Went on a pick last night, found this kelly tires sign in a shed! Help it up to the lady and she said $40, I said sold. Then I bought tons and tons of snap on for $100- pics coming!

Out walking the dogs today, resulting in “curbside pickup.” (Well, two different types!)
The one I kept was a couple items in a tall, rusted-bottom, two-door metal cabinet. Too bad about the bottom. I would probably go back for it, but the doors are full-length, so I don’t see cutting it down to eliminate the rust...maybe.
What was inside was some glaziers points with settting tool, brads, an aluminum nail, a non-branded pipe wrench, a bent screwdriver, and a EWBliss erection wrench. And an apparently complete NOS closet door latch set. And an opened pack of emory cloth.
I left a Globemaster hacksaw behind, as my pockets and hands were full, and the dogs were getting their leashes tangled.
I may still go back, not sure.

Looks like the pipe wrench is a plomb empire. Grind off! The picture and the shadows make it look like there is a p&c logo on it ? If it is not p&c then plomb for sure. Most likely from the lawsuit era !

I hate to break my own arm patting myself on the back, but in this case, I am prepared for the pain, the cast, the sling... and a friggin' hospital bed and traction, if it comes down to it... :lol_hitti

Here it is cleaned up. Forged-in code near static jaw. PO initials stamped on shank. Model number 4110. A rectangular shadow where a mfr name should be. Looks very Danielson, but I don’t know “plain” from “typewriter” font for these digits to know the decade.
1948?

I see online a couple VERY similar wrenches stamped “4110”. One is Fleet and the other is Penens. The Plomb model would be 810, I think.

Edit: here it is with a Parker Tool wood-handled wrench I found a year or so ago. Looks like the dynamic jaw, at least, is Danielson. Neither Parker component has Danielson date codes on it, though.

The latter. Seller's wife's grandfather, WWII vet, had them squirreled away in his basement. Seller had them for 20 years and forgot about them. Wanted to sell as a lot. I went in quick and high! No pussyfooting. Boom. Sold!

Wow, Lugz - just wow. And a hearty you ****!

One of the Sears near me is closing. I've been dropping by on my lunch hour once a week or so, but tool wise all they have are the Chinesium Craftsman. There was a nice Gladiator full height cabinet I wanted that was 20% off, but I was waiting for at least 40%. Went by today and it was gone. Most of the store fixtures have sold stickers on them but I walked through all the departments anyway. In the last area of the store I noticed an unpriced Gladiator rolling cabinet that looked like it was used in a back room but still in really good shape. I asked the manager if it was for sale and she said, "Sure, how about 25 bucks?" Sold. They sell for $279 without the casters.

Just the one item tonight...dropped a 10 spot on this Ridgid no. 39 clamp-on pipe vise...1/8" to 2.5" capacity, 15.5 lbs.

Clamp-on style a lot more uncommon than bolt-on. Been waiting a while for one cheap and local.

There was an estate sale around the corner from me, but I didn’t find out until 3 hours in. There was a lot of vintage socketry and wrenches, right up my alley. First thing I notice on top is a Snap On 1930’s ratchet. I rarely see these in the wild!

Then I notice the prices and sticker shock sets in. Socketry was compiled mainly into three boxes for sale, and each was sky high. $75,$75,$55, something like that. Most tools were greasy, worn, rusty and broken. Some Craftsman and Wardmaster in one box, Bonney and misc in another, and a Fleet 1/2” set with misc mixed in.

I tried to make an offer, but was turned down. The lady said I could mix and match, so I chose what I could without wreaking havoc on their pricing system.

She only charged me $10 for the pile! :wtf: She goes, “I thought you’d like that”. Guess she liked me.

Blue Point threading dies
Bonney combo wrench
Fomoco nos condenser
Craftsman 3/8 flex head ratchet
Tuffy screwdriver
Plomb 1/2” breaker bar
Plomb LA punch
Proto ignition pliers
Plomb ignition wrench
Diamond 4” adjustable
Diamond pliers
Thorsen old 3/8 t handle
Snap on 3/8 F-70 ratchet from 1932, an extension, deep socket, later u joint
Germany small flat tip screwdriver (can’t decipher the name) B?????
Tiny D Maydole ball peen. That was the real gem in the wrenches.

Then I went back in and asked about the vise on the bench and the axe.

Fuller made in Japan vise. (For sale in the classifieds)

Keen Kutter axe. May part with this if anyone’s interested.

I might go back try and strike a deal on the sockets.

Thanks, Rags. I think Maydole is popular amongst hammer guys. I have had a few. I like tiny ball peens, so if they are cheap I grab them. Forgot the pic in fact.

We went to the second day of a Livermore estate sale this morning. I would have gone yesterday but my copilot had other plans. There were still tools to be found so we gathered up some. The first picture is everything, the second and third are Dunlap and Thorsen respectively. The fourth picture is S-K, the fifth is a variety from the Plomb/Proto empire. The next one is all of the Craftsman and the last is an almost complete set of metric Powr-Kraft made by Thorsen.
Lugz, I’m looking forward to seeing my new Williams set. I’m sure it’ll be nicer than my current one in progress.

-Don

Nice haul. I really like Bishop of Barcalo. He got the day off. Would Deacon of Dunlap ever stick? What about Troubador of Thorsen or Thorsen Troubador III ? Lol. You need one for Powrkraft too, Don.

Nice hauls, guys.

I picked up a tiny 15* angle pattern pebbled Plomb DBE wrench and a half dozen Herbrand 1/2-inch drive sockets from the same set at the flea market this morning. I wish there had been more of them. I don't think I have any of these already, and it's not something I am likely to complete. Flippers or trade material.

Do you have a 7/8" socket in that above haul?

A tiny break in the drought (of sales; PLENTY of rain and snow!) One sale I snuck out for:

Guy is closing his storage and also runs an antique/vintage store, so sort of a "fire sale". I got all this for 20 bucks, with quite a few "whatzits"

Several latches for the supply cabinet, I like the pull ring latch. first one I've seen that opened a latch... A couple of wood lathe rests; the others I'm not sure what they went to, but they looked useful...

Small Spikes, a Wood chisel handle for the collection, The curved piece with the odd (probably not original) grip is marked RIMAC. Bike tire tool? :dunno: Old school brass pistol cleaning rod, the wire wheel is Milwalkee, AND USA. Preset torque handle, An ANCIENT Spark plug, (sorry for the poor angle); The single open and has ONE mark - a big "3" in a 1920's style fount. an old Seam setter tool for Sheet Metal work, and the board is a "Handy" Bearing Board" an I think its a navigational aid? :dunno: I need to carefully clean it adn then see wht I can discover about it...

Getting more serious about tools here other than the Full or nearly so bottle of MAPP Gas, (Not the "replacement" stuff either! the company that had the patent on the mix closed its doors a few years ago and the patent is still good, so the stuff you buy now is close, but not quite as good...), Front and center is SO, Next row Proto/Plvmb/P&C (sockets), Next row back is all Indestro, An old Duro hex ratchet adn socket, behind that Utica Hog ring pliers, then Thorsen; Williams divides right and left, and lastly SK and Armstrong

The lower right diagonal wrench is a Peugeot 8 & 10 mm and the jaws are lobed like the SO sockets these days! looks old so SO may have lifted the patent?

Duckbills on the left are unmarked....

And last, but not least, my "collection box! I had most of this stuff in this box.

A VERY mixed bag, and some interesting "Whatzitz"! but I feel like the Mapp gas and wire wheel more than pis for the rest!
