two post lift anchors.....and epoxy

unloaded my atlas 10k two post lift. directions are horrible. Came with the anchors which i believe are 3/4 inch. How do i know what size to drill the holes? And whats with epoxy in anchor holes? just to keep them from spinning while the sleeve does its job? how should it be used? Where should it be applied?

Thanks. Duh. Skipped right over that page after I looked at the pictures. Is epoxy used as extra insurance?

If they are 3/4 inch anchor then you drill a 3/4" hole, you do not want to use a hammer drill for this. Use a SDS drill and sharp SDS bit.

What about epoxy? You don't use epoxy with regular anchor, unless you messed up and made the hole too big. To use epoxy you need special epoxy anchors.

I used my Makita rotary hammer with 3/4" SDS drill bit when I drilled mine. I had no issues with the holes. No epoxy.

The common Simpson anchors for use with epoxy are modified high strength , and expensive, threaded rods. Epoxy requires 1/8” clearance around the threaded rod to function.

Wedge anchors shipped with the lift don’t require epoxy. Wedge anchors use a 3/4” drilled hole, so there isn’t enough clearance to add epoxy and have the epoxy add any significant strength.

Use an SDS hammer drill. A rotary only drill will wallow out the hole and will take forever.

If there is wire/rebar in the concrete, plan to get a rebar cutter also.
