Your eBay seller thought it was Myers Hay Tools, which didn't make sense, because the name of the company who made all those farm implements was actually F.E. Myers.

Looks like Myers Hay Tools were technically the hay trollies. But they did advertise them as 'hay tools'. So, based on their manufacturing capability, it's conceivable that they would have been able to stamp out wrenches for the war effort. :dunno:

Here are the couple I picked up last year. I believe I saw another of the bent one online before, so I think it was factory. In the last pic, the bent one also has a faint MHT Co.marking on the reverse, as well as the sizes. No keystone either.

Looking into the Myers thing, I saw ONLY gear with wooden pulleys had “M.H.T.Co.” cast into “malleable iron” components, and did NOT see “Myers” on the same pieces. Until I do see an object or catalog illustration that links the two, I think there’s a case that the MHTCo-marked gear is mis-identified as Myers by the agricollectors/sellers and could very well be a separate, as yet unidentified, company. But the logo looks a LOT like what’s on the wrenches, so I think it’s quite possible the wrenches were made for the pulley co by L/L/E.
eBay wrench
Worthpoint pulley
eBay Pulley
etsy Pulley
I wonder what the “OK” seen on some of these might be - a clue? Oklahoma?

Some great collections, everyone collects something:thumbup:
I have the set of metric offset DBE that came with my Lada. They are a very good quality DBE. I don't have many as I rarely ever need one other than for adjusting distributor. Only a few SAE DBE's as well. Last one I acquired was a Snap On 9/16 1/2 that was offered to me from a guys "take one" bucket. That ignition wrench came with the Lada tool kit as well

There is a resemblance, but for one small exception, which is odd: the pulley logo does not have a forged-in period mark after the "T"; the wrenches do.

While it's not odd for toolmakers, especially those with private label forge works, to make tools for farm implement companies, F.E. Myers & Bro. did not make tractors and such, I am not sure what these DBE wrenches would've been used to turn on the equipment they did make, and lastly, the wrenches do not seem to be the same time period as the pulleys.

The Lakeside forge production, which is unquestionable, doesn't explain the initials not matching the company name. If you look through old farm directories and trade mags, or books on that subject, F.E. Myers & Bro. is always referred to by their actual name, or as you alluded to, just Myers. I have yet to see "Myers Hay Tool" in a period document, let alone accompanied, pun intended, by 'Company.'

Those remain my sticky points.

Just don't look like farm tools to me.

On the "OK", Myers was located in Ashland, Ohio. According to the history piece on Myers linked here, which is a very good read, by the way, "OK" was one of several brand names they used. Might could still be Oklahoma, or Okay. Either way, not sure if it helps. EDIT: On second thought, if this article is to be believed, it links "OK" to F.E. Myers & Bro., which links M.H.T. Co. to F.E. Myers & Bro., since "M.H.TCo." and "OK" are found on the same trolley.

According to the same article, business rapidly declined after WWII and the onslaught of electrification, when Myers finally dropped hay trolleys and got into water systems. They have nuts and bolts, of course, and makes more sense for the types of wrenches, but I still don't think they are F.E. Myers & Bro., which had even less reason to be known, even in error, as 'Myers Hay Tools Company', at that time.

And no Keystone mark Rags, at least on the front, but chances are it's the same mfr. by the look.

LS- thanks for pointing that out. Last time around I saw those actual MHT pulleys and they look awfully old to be related to these wrenches. Heck, it's held with cotter pins too. Not sure where that connection started, I think an ebay seller with the wrench that time.

That B&D wrench strikes me as a wrench to remove/install blades on a circular saw. :headscrat

Right. I looked at all 21 cat illustrations on that site, and every trolley that has OK on it also has Myers on it - mostly FEMyers&Bro. None have MHTCo on them.
I agree the wrenches are late compared to the wood pulleys, but if Myers persisted into the 1960s why couldn’t MHTCo, also?
My subtler point is, there’s not a single illustration of a Myers wood pulley anywhere. The wood pulleys in the photos are not hay trolleys, though they could be used in conjunction with them. But aside from the shared OK, there’s no evidence linking MHTCo and Myers.

Cross Country appears to have been a Sears brand from the 1930's. Alloy Artifacts has an entry on them here, down near the bottom of the page. They conclude the tools were made by Duro and Indestro.

I only have one other example of this brand, so I was glad to find this one.

I had a few wrench purchases arrive today.

Blackhawk 15637 double groove angled, 15/16" x 1"
Blackhawk 15829 deep offset, 1-1/4" x 1-3/8"

The big Blackhawk has been a while to acquire. I included a picture with it's big brother. I now need the "little" 15818 to round out the big boy trio of Blackhawk DBEs.

I'm slowly filling out the Blackhawk portion of the ol' wrench rack.901eb3501b50bf3028a62be91543b15b.jpgff9f5addae51cd2320f01de837397636.jpg55922fd6836d782b0f000c45ebfa4d35.jpgfc91beda679ef43c9bf229573cd3afb8.jpg
