Bollmann are, perhaps, better than even the old USA made Vise Grips. Wish there were more styles available from HJE.

I find Grip-On (and re-brands) crude, at best - mismatched jaws, lots of play. I won't be buying any more.

Consider the new Tektons, too - they're better than most and quiet a few styles/sizes.

I've got 4 of those bollmann grips, indeed better then vise grip. Mine are the c clamp style, am in collision repair, so clamping sheet metal together is my main concern. When I picked my clamps up i asked the person at HJE they said they were working getting more styles in, that was about 2-3 years ago.

I also have a ton of grip on clamps, once again great clamps. They offer styles no other brand produces.

I have a few Bollmann (aka Bollmann-Selzer) locking pliers. They are also rebranded under Knipex, Rennsteig, NWS, Padre, VBW, Heyco, Elora, and I'm sure many others.

They are pretty high quality. They feel more solid than my older Peterson Vice Grips. They are also more solid feeling than Grip On, which rebrands under Snap On, Blue Point, Napa, Proto, Heyco, Elora, and many others. The Grip Ons feel more comfortable in the hand, and they still seem high quality, but I would agree that they have a little more slop and sometimes have mismatched jaws, more often than the Bollmans.

At the end of the day, it's hard for me to figure out which I prefer. I probably won't be getting rid of either.
