"I'm bad, I'm Nationwide"
Update on my 1/2" knurled set after receiving the hard to find 40138 from Roy. I may stand corrected, but I believe I now have most of the std 12 pt sockets for this set including 40140, 38, 36, 34, 32, 31, 30, 28, 26, 25, 24, 22, 20, 19, 18, 16*, & 14. I have a 6 pt stand in for 16 until finding the 12 pt. I'm also showing my 40103 1/2 8 pt, 40809 drag link and both 8 pt and 12 pt versions of 4V118 which we discussed earlier in this thread. I need to upgrade a few of the 12 pt sockets and will keep looking for a few of the other pieces.

They did make a 21. I think I have a few but most are SK Chrome. I am almost positive I have a 12pt of the 16 and will check and see.

I had wondered about 21. Is it just me or are there just way more of the 6 pt 16's out there? Thanks Roy.
I am actually on the other end of the fence where 12pts are more common.

Here are the ones I have here after adding in the ones recently received. The upper row in the fourth picture are 6 point. The last shot is my wartime stuff just waiting for me to run across a wartime box.

I found an old SK box in the farmhouse basement with a few 1/2" drive sockets in it, super greasy so I need to clean it up a bit. Found all the other sockets to make a full set along with a breaker bar, extension, sliding tee and nice ratchet. I think the SK knurled sockets are the nicest looking sockets out there!

Three photos attached.

I ran across this old "container" while doing some wood shop cleaning, I had purchased it with some nice old auger bits inside, I wanted the bits, the box was a bonus. I didn't pay any attention, just thought the name on the lid was the name of the bits. Wrong. So I did a google search and found out it was an early "subdivision" of S K tools. No idea what originally was inside, but thought it was a neat find. If you can't read the label it is Brazil Tools, Chicago IL

You might have something of value there. There is one Brazil socket set currently listed on eBay for a rather ridiculous amount but they are rare. I have several sockets that would be appropriate for your box.

They were basically identical to the sk stuff at the time. Tiger (gambles), fulton(sears) and others I am probably forgetting were all sk products. Fairly collectable. I got this one from the alloy artifacts guy.

Hitting a few estate sales today netted me enough sockets to fill a couple boxes, and enough new boxes to make this official.

This box only had one socket in earlier today:

This box had nothing:

And I am now working on two new boxes:

Not sure what I am going to do about the paint on that last on...

That is quite a haul. Nice batch of wartime sockets. It’s taken me a long time to gather mine up and you got them in one day. Here are my random estate sale S-K finds this morning.

I spotted another of the oddly knurled S-K sockets on eBay yesterday. Here are a couple of screenshots.

I finally have something worth while to add to this thread.
No ratchet included.
Not sure what else should be there.
Any input appreciated

Yours looks new and mine is probably missing half the tools. I should at least replace the Asian ratchet with an S-K.

Anyway, has anyone seen one like this? Can't find any model number yet so I don't know how old it might be.

I believe the badge would point towards the Facom era that would be 2000s. I am not super up on this era but it is a newer box than you may think.

Just thought I'd follow up with some info from SK. Contacted SK through Facebook via Messenger.

Recently bought this old SK toolbox and have never seen a logo like this, can you tell me anything about it?

Hi Damon, great find! Let me share these with the team and see what I can find out for you.

I've consulted with our experts. The bright red tool storage was unique to our models during the 80's and 90's. However, the black top on yours is exclusive to the units produced in the 1980's. Hope this helps!

I was impressed by the fast response to an inquiry that doesn't make them any money.

Nice intermediate box. A few years ago I picked up the top to that box from the local recycling yard. I haven't really touched it, so it's still in much the same condition. Spray bomb red.

Cool, that does look like the same logo. So there must have been a roll cab three piece set, mine was the mid with yours as the top.

Sorting through ratchets here, and thought I’d post this pair. Found both at the same flea this past year or so.

Chrome Alloy 4070 1/2” drive. They are the same other than the dimpled rivets.

These are a couple different 1930’s patent pending examples. I talked about them earlier in this thread in post 1035 and 1039, where I have a newish example of one, and the even earlier (probably first model) round head by S-K.

I’ve never seen these two ratchets physically next to one another, so here they are.

The bottom one came from my buddy CB as posted in the Garage Sale thread.

The top one also came from a member here. It is unfortunately missing the directional switch. Note “no snap ring” on this earlier model.

Do you or anyone know the correct color & logo box for this era?
Im guessing its green wrinkle but with the printed logo, but maybe the brown ?
Years ago at the flea I picked one up with most of the sockets .
They were in an old, dirty unmarked hand carry box.
I stupidly didnt just buy the whole thing...:twak:
and have been thinking about building up a set.

So, some of you guys may remember this set...

attachment.php

...and my theory about it being an S-K Carb-O-Mang set, an economy line brand, akin to Brazil in a sense, in the way it is outfitted with unmarked S-K tools, and in this case, made almost certainly from carbon and manganese.

attachment.php

The problem was, nobody had one or had ever seen one here or on eBay or anywhere else.

As you may recall, I even did some creative rendering to depict what Twersty and I were seeing out of the remains of the decal.
