I have a Prentiss Bull Dog that is missing several letters. Apparently it was not set up properly for casting. It just seems funny to look at it.
The little Prentiss no.18 that was posted here last weekend was made in New Yor_Just imagine what it'd be worth if it had a missing letter. A feller could probably retire on the proceeds from a double vision COLUM IAN.

Should look familiar...
We'll see what it ultimately brings. I don't see those of us who sell as inflating the vise market--it's what the internet buyers will pay. Look at the "Sold" listings for baby bullets. I would never have dreamed there would be so many deep-pocketed vise collectors out there who don't already have a Wilton baby bullet. Must be like Snap-On buyers. Nearly every bit of Snap-On I find at sales goes up on Ebay to cover the cost of everything else I decide to keep.
Yeah, it's me. I was quoting my own post.I have a feeling the seller is one of the members here! If you read the description it says the vise was purchased from an optometry business outside Boston that was closing. I seem to remember that one of the members here posting something similar and saying that his wife was buying the furniture from this optometry business etc and she also bought the baby bullet for a song as a gift for him.
It will be interesting to see what it will ultimately fetch.

Here is a rentis vise 211 with several interesting features. Also I have never figured out what that thing is behind the rear stationary jaw. I’m not sure if it’s a repair from a break or a reinforcement of some sort.
Just a friendly reminder...
Members shouldn’t use this forum to link or promote their own sales on eBay.
This may be of interest to the Reed guys...
I was looking for the year stamp, as others have found, on the dynamic jaw of a Reed 403 1/2 R and could not find one. All most overlooked a mark on the swivel jaw.
I like finding various stampings

As usual a lousy picture and a large one at that but that's a placement, with a representation of the mark.

Technically and in fairness I was the one who posted the link for the eBay listing and obviously I have nothing to do with the listing.

MayerSo another collector friend of mine and I just completed a trade that I'm pretty tickled about and want to share. He's up in the NE US and in a vise heaven. I've been looking for a Starrett vise for a long time in my neck of the woods and just haven't found anything. He's been looking for a Reed 1C for a long time and wasn't having a lot of luck. I have a couple of 1C's and told him my predicament and said if you ever find a nice Starrett then let me know and we can make a trade... Well I'd say he came through. I think we both traded basically unused examples of each vise to each other...a couple of happy campers!
My new addition; Starrett 924 1/2 fixed baseD

I sent this to Reverend Scott...
But, I thought...
This needs to be shared with the folks that are unfortunate enough to live in the "Cooler Climes..."...![]()

They clearly should have visited the concussion protocol tent for an evaluation before pricing. So I went to an estate sale today that advertised tools.....most of the stuff was Taiwan junk....
I was shocked to see this....someone clearly bumped their head
Thought you guys would appreciate

That's a nice 1C and Starrett too. I've seen swivel bases for those Starrett occasionally on eBay if interested. Nice to see a good trade work out! Just curious how/what carrier the 924 1/2 was shipped with?

Congrats to you and your friend! Both vises seem to be in mint and excellent condition and it is great that it worked out for both of you.![]()
Wow, that’s amazing. It looks new and unused. Congratulations!

An online estate sale. Was up around Chicago I think. I thot it would go way high in that area so I wasn't paying much attention. Woulda cost me some to ship to North Florida but it's not a monster so it couldn't been much.Whaaaaat???
