Wanted: Bonney Water Pump Wrenches

I came across these guys while digging around and I find that I just have to have more of them! lol It never ends.

I like the way they feel and figure they might come in handy.

They are call water pump wrenches. I only have the 1" & 1 3/16" so far.

They dont have to be Bonney I guess so if you have others let me know.

they are also called service wrenches. Engineer wrenches have a similar look, in that they are single open end, but are thicker and heavier than service wrenches. Service wrenches are also typically made in larger sizes, but with shorter handles.

The two are not the same.

Ive seen similar sets on ebay and when purchased in smaller sets they are reasonably priced, Big sets bring big bucks as Alex is well aware of.

They are intended to hold jam nuts on hydraulic fittings. This is why they are so thin. I have a set of Blue-point and a few Martins.

That's what the manufacturers call them. you can call them Fred if you want.

I've always liked those Fred wrenches. They look like they'd be just the ticket for under-the-sink plumbing needs. I have to make do with a pair of Knipex wrench pliers instead.

that is so funny, because that is the exact reason I almost bought a 24 piece set for $300 on ebay a month or two ago (as Hiball implied above)... The only reason I didn't is I got outbid. I must be nuts. Or on GJ

I have a few of them, Bonney, Martin and Armstrong, used to use them a lot, not so much any more but I'm going to hang on to them, I find an occasional use.

These are some that I dug out of the basement! The bent handle one is only .048 thick-super thin, stamped out of reg. steel.

Yeah, and when you're underneath the sink and water and ****** is gushing everywhere, suddenly a nice set of Fred wrenches that would actually get the job done are pretty darned appealing!

But in the meantime get yourself one of these 12" wrench pliers, they go to 2-3/8.
