Anyone else have the same issue with the Nano 1823. Mine reverses no problems but now it doesn't go forward to tighten nuts/bolts. I was doing a brake job today and it removed the lug nuts and caliper mounting bolts fine but didn't tighten the lug nuts, it just didn't move and air was just blowing out the exhaust. Grabbed my Snap-on PT850 which finished the job, no problem. I bought the Nano on December 2017.

Mahalo! Will do. Just curious if it's just mine or was there an inherent problem.

I've never had that problem with my my 1823. Did you try turning the the socket while pulling the trigger? I have had that problem with other impacts and just turning a little freed it back up. I think there is an Astro rep on this board.

I did turn the socket while pulling the trigger (with the airline disconnected) and it spun freely.

I've heard a few people complain on 1823, not personally seen issue with one .
Rep is pretty proactive if he catches this thread, they pretty helpful with issues in general so should get sorted . assume likely air valve issue, you tried squirt of oil in it .

We would be happy to warranty repair it for you. I suspect it's the rotor fin pre-load springs in the cylinder. There are these small springs that push out the rotor blades, if one breaks it can lodge against the cylinder wall. If you remove all the springs it works just the same - which is what we usually suggest.

Hi Chris, thanks very much. But has expired as I bought it over a year ago. This probably the 2nd or 3rd time I've used it since. If I can warranty it, do I just send it to the address on the website? Mahalo

Based on what side of the blade the broken piece of spring is it may only run in REV or FWD

Hey CHris, tried to reply to your PM but your box is full. Here's my reply this morning.

Not sure if you got my reply this morning. I removed the screws on the back cover but didn't spend enough time to figure it out. How do you remove the forward/reverse speed selector switch to remove the back cover?

Thanks very much, Delwyn

Found the springs and here they are. Of the 6, 3 were bent and jammed but 1 fell on the floor.

Thanks Chris!

Nice call on Chris' part!

The thing about air motors is that the vanes will send themselves outwards on their own once it starts spinning. The springs only help in that first instant that the motor starts to turn, and removing them won't affect your power output in the slightest.

good result, bit surprised spring behind blades could stop it working in one direction, will have look at one in person as the pdf manual doesn't even show spring parts from what I recall .

No the parts breakdown doesn't show these springs.
