air compressor tank leak

i have a question, i already kind of no the answer.. i bought an old compressor tank looked ok. drained about 2 gallon of water out of it. its an 80 gallon tank
after a week i found some water bubbling out of the bottom of it, so i have a pin hole


can i weld a patch over it or is this thing a bomb now

That's a cool compressor, but one hole might lead to another. I've found some good deals on modern used tanks. Replace the tank.


its a curtis 2 stage has not ran in 25 years and has great compression and pumps very fast but youre right one hole there has to be more coming

Plenty of tanks around with failed pumps and motors.

Weld it up and then run PVC airlines from it. :)

Seriously, like was said above, the tank is compromised and most likely very thin in other places.
Sad but safe truth is- the tank is garbage as a pressure vessel.

Scrap or condemn it.

You no longer have a viable compressor air tank there, but you have the makings of some yard art or a BBQ grill or smoker. Or some scrap steel.
