Hi,

my cordless Boschhammer came with this cloth,
folds out to 4x the size and I have no idea what its for.
Found no reference in the manual and the site printed on it
is for their wall scanners where I also found nothing.

Any ideas?

I have a Bosch hammer drill as well. It came with cloth. I believe that is to wipe end off before insertion. You are supposed to lubricate, as I have had mine freeze up. Would rotate but no percussion. Oring was bad if I recall.

Its a hankie.
Its to blow your nose with after inhaling all that silica dust.
Relieves them of liability.

Hilti TE-7 where I work has what I think is a microfiber cloth in the case. I assumed it was for cleaning the tool after a long drilling session.

My guess is advertising. You get this odd cloth with your drill and you are going "wtf?", and you see the website printed on it and look it up, then you post it on a forum, and a whole bunch of other people look it up too. I'd say someone in Bosch's advertising department deserves a raise.

That is the new type warranty. When it breaks you cry into it and blow your nose. Look for the fine print on the back, in German that says: Don't call us, we'll call you.

Never thought about that and also never had extras like that included with my tools.
Another day I learned something.

Thank you

Rather than oil, wouldn't grease be better ?

For the drill bits I mean.

Yup Yup.

I think the general purpose cloth in the tool case may be a German thing.
I have a bunch of tool sets from Rothenberger, who makes pipe and plumbing tools.
About half the sets came with a thick felt type cloth in the case.
I sort of presumed the cloth was to wipe up lubricants or grease used when bending or forming pipes after you were finished.
The cloth also serves as padding in the tool cases to help prevent parts from bumping around in the case slightly loosely, and presumably as advertising.
A rotary hammer that needs the bits lubricated on the end, and which gets covered in dust would make sense for the cloth as well.
