Hi folks,

I picked up a freebie woodworking vise. It’s pretty good but needs a little mechanical repair. I have not been able to date it or find a model number for reference and hope someone here will know about it. The nut has some “keys” and pins that are incorrect and I want to do research before attempting a repair.

Any information appreciated!

The vise is a 10” wide one. It is also a simple quick release that I can’t figure how is supposed to work. It uses a thin section of thread engagement on a flat part with two pin holes in it. I haven’t a clue how it is supposed to work.

As far as I know, Columbian and Morgan made Craftsman vises. I'll bet if you ask Mr Google he will know. Start with Columbian 10". I have "fixed" QR vises by disabling the QR feature. Never liked it anyway. I know I am old school but swinging a vise handle while woodworking has never been an issue with me.

Nice looking vise. Good luck with your repair.
