Pulled weeds. Good gosh, I pulled a LOT of weeds today.

Today was gonna be a slow day waiting for a truck to get here to work on, so I decided to do yard work and pull weeds while awaiting their arrival. Unfortunately, they held off for now, so I decided to work on my truck.

Pulled a couple bumpers from the weeds, and put the “new” bumper on my truck, and then I’ll put the old one on my 4x4 I’m building.

So it all worked out for the best!

I'm a tiny bit curious how you went about that, if only because I was discussing the idea of making some custom poly mounts with a friend of mine the other day and the idea that they might need some machining afterwards came to mind but I'm not sure how well it machines, being as soft as it is.

I did iton a mini lathe. It was fairly straight forward, just clear the birds nests as it doesnt chip at all. I cut mine slightly oversized and pressed them in.

That is cool, I was just thinking as soft as it is it might tear a chunk out really easily.

Finally able to spend some time on the car. Had an issue last year with a bunch of noise under the car on start up and low RPM. Found the crank/flexplate bolts had loosened up somehow. This allowed the flexplate to bang around. Glad it's an easy fix.

Tried to replace a thermopile in my gas heater/stove.
Flame is orange yellow and 4x too big.
Tighter loose pilot light gas line. Adjusted gas at the pilot light screw, still no blue pilot flame, scares me.

If you do nothing right, you'll do nothing wrong!

Today was ratchet cleaning day.

Bought this 1/4” drive along with a 3/8” drive. The 3/8 drive works flawless. This one? Selector stuck in the middle.....

Pulled it apart, found this mess....

After ultra sonic cleaning, wire brush and scrub, cleaning with a pick, etc, I got it back together (had to customize a clip to replace the selector clip that snapped in half due to rust)....

Now after some Birchwood Casey gun grease, it works! It isn’t going into my main box, so it didn't have to be perfect. My goal was more preservation than getting it back to daily use, but I’m happy to say that it can be if needed!

NOTHING!

And I need to vent...

Went to Urgent care instead as I slammed my thumb in the van door coming home from work. Hurt like H&#$, and hurt all the way home. 4 Tylenol and Ice helped a tiny bit, then the pain broke through. Went to Urgent care to get the hot needle through the thumb nail (Not my first rodeo for this...) and was made to WAIT IN INTENSE PAIN for 2-1/2 Hours.

I told them that it was a 30 second procedure and I was REALLY HURTING "2-1/2 hours, do you want to wait?" So much for "triage"...

FINALLY got top see a doc, She wants to talk my era off about XRAYS! "Its NOT broken, It needs the hot needle pressure relief! Can we get that done FIRST please?" After the THIRD TIME she finally got it...

takes her ten minutes to get the thing she needs... Takes another 5 to get setup and I rearranged so she could work properly on my left thumb.

"Are you ready" this wil hurt."

"Do it (last time the pain of the hole burn (battery operated "hot wire loop") went unnoticed with the pain relief of the pressure drop...

She tries, and tries again, and tries again.. She NEVER got through!. Asked me if I wanted her to TRY another spot.

"Do it!"

The burring hurt even more than the pressure. she STiLL didn't make it through!

She's clearly upset at the failures and hurting me more...

"So what is plan B?"

Pain meds... she can't give me what she wanted as I still had the 4 Tylenol in me... so I get a shot of liquid Ibuprofen in my backside, Then go do the Effing Xrays, (I was right - No Break...)

By then so much time had passed she was OK with the Norco (Vicodin and Tylenol together?) so gave me one, plus a prescription for more

Had the gall to ask if I wanted her to try again! (Yeah Right..)

This is the mess she made on my thumb nail trying:

Well, check out the "thumbnail" :see:  (pun intended) in case some don't want to see...

Thumb is about 2X thicker than its supposed to be...

And the meds are working well enough so I can probably sleep...

So 2 hours into the Norco, I'm FINALLY "feeling" it (drowsy warning...) OR its > an Hour past my bed time (I even missed a late evening business call because of all this..)

I'm not a doctor, so consider that while reading my post..lol Seems to me she made it through the nail, but there wasn't any pressure? Maybe the pain is just from the injury and not from any pressure?

I've used an exacto knife to relive the pressure. Just took my time and it didn't hurt at all.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sorry to hear that Outlaw. I’m w/ OMRoger. Last time I did something similar to my thumb that had turned purple under my nail, I used a new 1/16” drill bit I had soaked in Peroxide, and then heated with a lighter to kill anything still hanging on. Allowed bit to cool then gentile pressure while twisting between my fingers the bit point on my nail till the blood pressure releases in a short spurt. Saved $300 copay and a very painful experience. I’ve done it both ways, and the one with the drill bit did not require 2 extra people to help hold me still.

I've broke enough bones to know what and what is not broken. I pop my own fingernails...I hate waiting...not unless I absolutely have to.

Went to Urgentcare, needed stitches. Sliced my left hand between my index finger and thumb...right through the Web. I needed to leave for NC to pick up a couple of Race Engines that evening...they told me it would be a 4 hour wait while I was soaking my hand in some solution.

I asked for a towel. She gave it to me and I started drying my hand and she asked what I was doing. Told her I was leaving and I would stitch it up myself. She pleaded with me and I said nope I gotta run. The Dr stepped in and said if I could wait 10 minutes she would do it...she overheard the story about going to get the Engines...after a brief conversation he husband was friends with my Engine builder prior to his move to NC from St Paul 20 years earlier...

I waited and they got it done...

Hope the pain goes done and you can start giving the 2 thumbs up again!!!

So why didnt you just do it at home? I dont know how many times I have heated up a sewing needle on the stove and shoved it through a nail to relieve pressure. Done it so many times, the wife doesnt even question me no more, just asks that I dont use her needles.

I replaced the pneumatic 2 way cylinders on the old Hunter tire machine. I paid a fraction of the original made in Italy part with pieces from eBay, fittings from amazon and clevis from princess auto. I just had to drill and tap the one end and swap the stud from old to new. I need to find a source for some very specific seals then it’ll be working great.

I replaced the bottom 2 with a couple of the top ones.

Been there, done the relieving pressure task too. But I used my pocket knife as I whittled my nail down in a spot til it pierce through! Just took my time and let the knife do the work.

I should have done it at home, and would have, and dang near did when they told me 2-1/2 hours... but SWMBO was having kittens at the thought.. "You will infect it!"

As far as the pressure, it WAS there, but NONE of her attempts go through the nail; you can see the bottom of each melt point. Had she broke through the first try, (like the first time 30+ years ago) it would have worked. she heated the area so many times she may have "cooked" the blood pool as well...

The combo of the shot and the Norcol allowed me to sleep the night through and this AM it was still tender as all get out, but not throbbing. it still is so I need to NOT do anything with it til that settles down. I can tel its sore at rest but totally tolerable. lat night it wasn't.

Found this old wall plate in a box of stuff from 15+ years ago at my parents house. Figured it would look right at home in the garage so I threw it up.

Picked up a stock rebuilt 460 (mild cam, straight-up timing set) from a friend last weekend. I removed the stock intake and have an Edelbrock to go on it.

Carb, distributor, clutch...and it should be ready to drop in.
I want to run it a few years and save up for a 514-532ci stroker kit

I had seats in the oldfield tower that day, it was horrible.

I hated the man as a racer on the track...but would never wish death/injury on him.

NASCAR became dead to me a few years after that when they started becoming the "National Association of Rules and Regulations"...they are a joke today. :(

I was a Waltrip fan, but when Dale died, I realized how much I loved to have him in the sport. I loved to root against him as much as I loved to root for Darrel. I realized I would miss him and his personality in the sport.

Removed the old Tecumseh motor from my old Troy Bilt tiller. Still runs, but very down on power, may save for later rebuild. Ordered a new Honda GX motor that should bolt right in. 270$ after coupons from Northern Tool. Course now that its apart I want to power wash and repaint the whole damn thing. Thought about just getting a new tiller this year, til I saw prices on new Troy Bilt horses. Does anyone know a source for a new tine shroud (cover, whatever) mine is thrashed.
