Racedeck Flooring after 4 1/2 years

Spring is finally arriving and that means it's time to give my Racedeck flooring a quick scrub with soap and water and a rinse to get all the winter crud off it. I just use a push broom, a little soap and water from the hose, then a leaf blower to dry it.

I installed this August 2014, so it's now four and a half years in use, and it still looks great. There's a few dents here and there mostly from my Harley Road Glide side stand (800 lb) but overall the floor has aged well and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Most my pals that went epoxy coating are experiencing various issues with the coating lifting in spots or staining at the same lifespan time.

I did opt for the extra cost shiny surface when I bought the Racedeck ($ 1 extra a tile at the time) and that has turned out to be well worth it. No issues, no complaints, I love this floor.

Be sure you allow for expansion / contraction of the floor if you do install one, because I do see those seasonal changes.

That looks great!
I gotta ask since you mention "winter", which general area are you located in?

...how that floor holds up in a winter environment would be of interest. Here in West Michigan, a typical season sees 72" of snow per year.

I'm in metro Washington DC, they LOVE to salt the roads here even when there is very little snow. So I usually do a mid-winter quick clean to get the sand/salt off using a push broom and some water/soap, then a second one (like in the above photo) in spring. Other than that just blow it out occasionally.

No tape on anything, those are the RaceDeck beveled edges at the front edge, they work great. I've not pulled the floor up for fun.....because it wouldn't be!

My Race Deck FreeFlow is also 4 1/2 years old. 5 winters of snow, slush, salt, grit and water. Rolling tool box, floor jack, rolling mechanics stool and jack stands. No complaints and I would do the same floor again if I had the opportunity. CJDave.

Looks really good. I am about to do my second Racedeck floor (we moved), and I am wondering...did any of the shine wear off from tire/floor interaction?

I'm investigating possibly installing a Racedeck floor in my 2-car garage. I'm wondering how slippery it can be when wet (especially with snow/ice dripping off cars in winter). Y'all who have Racedeck, any slipperiness issues??

The tread designs on RaceDeck offer good slip-resistance on wet floors but not so much that it's hard to roll dolly's, boxes and creepers across it.

Great. Thanks. That's what I needed. I online chatted with your support team member Jenn and she said the Diamond and CircleTrac were the least slippery. So I'll get started and will post some before and after pics. Luck!

My Free Flow is less slippery when wet than my concrete garage floor was when wet before I laid the Free Flow. CJDave.

Does water/moisture get underneath the flooring? You say you used a hose on it? I would have thought that would get water underneath, which wouldn't dry.

Also, what about using a floor jack? I'm thinking something would be necessary to protect the floor?

Looks fantastic, though! Incredible, really...

My understanding is that ALL RaceDeck tiles have the suspension back that allows the moisture to drain away and dry. Never have I had a problem with my Free Flow clogging from slush, grit, or anything else. If you were doing woodworking for example I can see the slots in the Free Flow filling up but a shop vac would clean that mess up. I guess moisture and sawdust could dry into a bit of a problem. Don't know. For my purpose the FreeFlow has been great. CJDave.

Thanks. Where in Ohio are you Rawlings2332? I'm near Cincinnati if a close-up look would help you I'd be proud to give you the grand tour. CJDave.

CJDave, I appreciate your patience. Spring is always crazy at work and then I went and threw in a family vacation! Anyway, I live in Marysville and don’t make it to the Cincinnati area to often.

Marysville. Home of Honda and some really bad girls in the prison there. Good luck. CJDave.

I am generally not a fan of the click together floor tiles, but I have to admit that floor looks good and appears to be holding up well. I had a neighbor do his garage in Race Deck and I was not impressed. I went with porcelain tile and do not regret it- but your floor looks great. Congratulations on a great job and design.
