started packing up the garage. This will take a while.

Our house went on the market last night.

Plan is to find a house on 1+ acre either with a shop, or cheap enough that I can afford to put a shop up as soon as we move in. Nothing too big... hoping for a 30x30.

Ahhhh, I remember being where you're at a couple of years ago. I hope you are able to find what you are looking for. Best of luck with the search and the move.

I'm doing the same thing. Have lived here for 25 years and although I tend to be pretty good at regularly purging, I still have a ton of stuff.
Will move in with GF so downsize to a 1 car garage, but shopping for land and/or house in the mountains where I can build a shop.
It's pretty overwhelming to move 25 years worth of ****...I mean "treasures":)

Luckily we've only been in this house for 7 years.

I do a fairly good job of purging too. I also tend to keep most of my projects in plastic tubs. The only thing I really need to pack are some of the open shelves of tools/supplies.

The shop will get some better storage cabinets built for a lot of the stuff that's currently sitting on shelves... like all the spray paint cans.

Threw together a clock for the garage. Stupid decal flipped at the bottom when going to lay it in place. So it isnt perfectly centered. But for less than $20 into the whole project, it will be ok for me. 77f86bf2797da31e9feefe30f1a9ef6a.jpg83608e9f281a509b73670947fd2de765.jpg

Good Luck and God Bless, we were in our last house right at 24 years, you seem to accumulate quite a few items over time. I filled a few dumpsters up just to compress what we put in our barn to save/store while we built a new house. Now the house is done and I'm trying to reclaim my barn. I built my barn before I built the house (My buddy said "You can never build it big enough" now I know what he meant)

Used my Keter work table today for the first time to work on a project for my wife. Easy setup and take down.

I chucked a Mazda Protégé fuel pump in my lathe and cut it open. My daughter wanted to see what was inside. The pump is from her car. She replaced the pump after it failed. The brushes had started to fail and leave residue on the armature. I got to keep the strong magnets.

That's cool. Gives me hope! Mine is 15 weeks old. Holy **** having a girl is scary. Really really cool that you guys did that.

I sat around in my garage drinking beer, staring the the giant pile of **** and thinking "how the F am I ever going to get all this done before the permits expire"... Still drinking beer and staring at ****.

Buddy’s shop needs an extra guy for a while, so I’ve been sorting through my extra tools and throwing together a box I can take there to work out of. Don’t want to take name brand stuff for fear of “walk aways” but don’t want to cheap out either. So far mostly American Craftsman, some Pittsburgh for impacts, wrenches are a mix of craftsman USA, GearWrench, power torque, husky and “China”. Screwdrivers are Chinese craftsman, oil filter tools are harbor Freight, ratchets are Flying V craftsman 1/4” to 1/2” drive, etc... My friend said to only bring metric sizes, and I feel so woefully unprepared not bringing SAE as well. I just KNOW that my first oil change will be an older American vehicle... I just KNOW IT! Haha

Tomorrow I’ll be pulling out my impact guns and seeing which one is “2nd” best to take, leaving my best one here at the house...

I wonder if I should take a torque wrench.... If so, I’ll need a wider box.... I’m temporarily using the box I got for my Grampa’s tools. If I am at the shop for longer, I’ll get a service cart, but just throwing something together for now, expecting to do tire rotations and oil changes...

Good news though is that they have Matco and Cornwell trucks that stop regularly so if I need something, I can pick it up on the fly.... Or since it’s close to my house, I can get something on my lunch break....

Ok enough rambling....

Carry on!

After a month away at work, simply came home unloaded the car and cracked a beer with a smile.

It was a good month, paid off a lot of debtors and ordered some parts.

Some fidgety to do around the house and get my bearings back into my head then I can hit some projects.

-install her new LED bulbs into her CRV headlights.
-new trans dipstick for bronco so get that in then fill all fluids..... gotta make sure diffs are RTV’ed up
-then back onto the fuel system on bronco as new guage is in, also got to do tank sealant once it’s all done
-measure out for brake calipers to figure out which one is gonna work.

All amongst yard projects as before I left there still was 3 inches of snow everywhere.

Re: Worked on Christmas decorations

Today I worked on Christmas decorations in my back garage.

I'm about to do a little something like that tonight. In about an hour, when the wife gets home we are going to drive to her dad's garage, break in and then install/put up 16 fake Christmas trees. We've been accumulating them for about two years (free) off Craigslist... Payback is a *****.

Best part --she's dropping our newborn off with him right now. He's going to be watching our kid at his house while we do this pretty much in plain sight.

If anyone has any other good ideas I'm all-ears. Two years ago he put my car in my back yard without tearing up the fence/gates. I really don't know how to top that. 16 fake Christmas trees is the best I could come up with.

sorta like a dillon or inline fab strong mount, but a LOT cheaper

Have any pics??

I have an OOOOOOOOOLD RL450 that someone upgraded to a 550 spec, but on a 450 frame. Picked it up for $70 rusted out, cleaned it up and it is a damn fine press...

Those tables are the best. I have two that were bought a year or so apart. They are ever so slightly different and came with different clamps which I really like.

Don't know how I got along without them.

Not in the barn, but just outside.

I know this should be in a mower forum, but you know what Gramma Buck would say- $-em !!

Dethatched the front yard- mercy ! I have an old John Deere, with twin bags.

Sucked up 16 bags worth of thatch. We sit on an acre.

I should send this to an Island somewhere to re -thatch some Tiki Huts !

Found out my "new to me" van has a recall (only one) and even at 32 years old, they still honor that recall! (parts are still available!)

Got an appt for next Fri!

Recalls are one thing I leave to the dealer! :pimpflash

Anything they find, the answer is "No"...

Once a dealer tried to get me to pay for an "X" point Safety check... - Not authorized, take it off the bill... "Yessir!"

Hung a ‘49 Chevy Deluxe dashboard with steering wheel on the wall.....been adapting the column to the dash. Then started to build a 4’x8’ door for the attic of the shop.

Added a pegboard backer, so far can't stand the wire screwdriver holders. Good concept but not well carried out at all. Going to make a plier rack out of closet wire shelf, then probably spend the next couple week readjusting everything.

Looks pretty good. [emoji41][emoji1360] I would just have do do the old “drill holes in a piece of wood” for the screwdrivers tho. Tried the same ones you’ve got and I’m not a fan either.

Rake it and then **** it up?

Probably worked better than my method of raking it up, loading it into the wheel barrow. Then once I finished remembered I had a bagger on the riding mower.

Added Porsche RS door pulls to the drawers in the back of my LandCruiser. It's super fast now.

IMG_2158.jpg

Then I spilled all the hardware out of one of those plastic machine screw assortments.

Oops. I used my HF rolling magnet to pick it all up though!

Got the new pegboard filled up. I have another workbench to work on tomorrow, same pegboard just wider. Also going to do some pine trim of some kind, really think it will make it pop. Plus it'll cover the 2x4s I didn't cut to the right length up top...

All in all I've got about 26$ invested in pegboard, 2x4, and all the hooks you see.

This cabinet/wall will be all my hand tools, power tools, and sockets.

The other is hardware, stationary, measuring, vice, drill and impact.

Spent the day in the garage yesterday. Did a little bit on a lot of stuff, but didn't feel like I was productive at all at the end of the day. Then this morning I feel like I accomplished something. I feel very good about it. The epoxy set on my tool tray I customizeed and I loaded it up. It lifts out of my tool box so I can put it beside me on the workbench. It has the tools I use most often for and I just on 75% of the machines I fix. Organized and easy to get to. 20190406_073020.jpeg20190406_074107.jpeg20190406_074249.jpeg
