So this is my shop. Has a long back story, so I’ll give the readers digest version if you are interested. Original half of the garage was the one built with the house. Standard 1.5 car garage that my father used growing up. He and his brothers were big car guys back in the days of the Muscle Cars. He had a 63 Chevy with a 327, his brother had a 64 Chevy with a 409/400. They did all sorts of things in there, and as i grew up and got into cars, we made room for his dream car (which was mine as well, 30 years later). A 71 SS454 Chevelle. Father son project that we completed. A lot of fun, a lot of fights, and a lot of cursing at each other. But it was all for the better.
As i was graduating HS, we finished the Chevelle and went on the hunt for another project. Found the Cobra Kit Car, and had a 20’x20’x20’ extension added to the existing garage. Shortly after the fun/fighting/cursing resumed. We made some progress, but my father was eventually diagnosed with lung cancer and died. I couldn’t bring myself to work on the Cobra for a long time after that, and both garages eventually became cluttered over the 9 years he has been gone, save for space to pull the Chevelle in and out.
Well today i got on there and cleaned out both garages. Probably the cleanest both have been since the day it was originally built. I’ve put the Cobra up for sale (don’t have the knowledge or time currently to finish it, so would rather see it go to a good home), so have stowed that in the corner. I’ve taken a recent interest in wood working, so have been collecting tools (all Milwaukee) and the ‘second’ garage is now my shop for both wood and automotive. If i can sell the Cobra i will probably build it into a pseudo man cave, complete with TV and bar, but most importantly space to work.
Thanks for reading my story. It helps to vent a little. And i know I’m new, but this forum was recommended to me from a website I’ve been on for many years with the same username. I’ve been inspired by a lot as i read through.
Big things i did today to the garage were: run an airline to the front from the compressor in the rear, organized hand tools, for a stereo up and running, replaced some lights, organized some shelves, cleaned out a ton of garbage, mounted a vice to my work bench, and vacuumed EVERYTHING.
