I want to use something like this to put on the wall, pull down, put shoes on it intermittently. It looks like the hinge has a horizontal piece that limits the movement of the wood piece anything past 90°.

Is there a particular name for this type of hinge so that I can locate it?

Don’t believe it’s a hinge. Just a piece of metal with a metal dowel through the wood. The metal piece extends down the wall for support

That's very clever and cool looking. I can't say that I've ever seen a hinged joint quite like that and I know I've never seen one available commercially. It looks pretty easy to fabricate although the long hole through the wooden shelf portion could be tricky to drill.

Looks like a piece of flat stock with a pivot hole welded to the inside of a piece of angle iron.
