Went to one of those sales where every tool guy had taken Friday off work to beat me there at the 10AM open. Boy was it picked over by 11.

However, for $15 I grabbed two full packs of emery cloth and a US Petersen Vise Grip.

IMG_2202.jpg

I went back to further picking, and found out the King-Seely Craftsman drill press was not in fact sold, so I offered 'em $40 and they took it.

IMG_2199.jpg

IMG_2201.jpg

Has low speed pulley and tilt table, as well as OG Craftsman motor with engine turning. Pretty happy.

Coincidentally, I saw an incomplete adult-size version of that Andy Handy cabinet (Defiance by Stanley) at the flea on Thursday. See Pics 1, 2, & 3. He only wanted $50 for it and even though I figured I could probably flip it for at least twice that, I just wasn't feeling it, and I didn't want to blow half my wad on something like that... Also from the LEFT-BEHIND folder, the Buddy L Army truck I mentioned above See Pic 4. It's awesome, but at $125, firm, too rich for my blood.

Nice save on the ext lugz.

Last Saturday I was traveling with CBacres to the Florida meet up. We stopped at a bunch of yard sales around our route. There was one really junky curbside sale, and we rescued most all the tools and such that were mixed in the buckets of stuff.

My fist was full with everything in the first pic, and the woman says $2 for it all! I thought for certain she would’ve said 10 or at least 5.

Craftsman- 3/8 speeder, 1/4 sockets, brake spring pliers

Misc sockets and ext.- Matco, Kobalt, Husky, Gearwrench

Speed-hed combo wrench, skeleton key, another mini maglite, what’s left of a Case pocket knife, and a Snap On puller jaw which CB pulled out - I was like “if you don’t take that I will”.

The 4th and 5th pic are sockets that she had in a rusty waterlogged old mayonnaise jar. She charged me $1 for all the sockets and the box with the hex drive sockets which I think are a generic import.

The sockets were a rusty wet mess but I wiped them down. About half are USA. Blackhawk, Indestro Super, Duro Chrome, Craftsman, JC Penney, Bonney, Mac. 1 Ace hardware in there. Not bad for a buck.

Another sale I grabbed the two nos Kwikset door knobs for 5 bucks. Made in USA from the 90’s!

I only saw one worthwhile sale for the weekend and it was today in Hayward,CA. We arrived about 45 minutes after it opened to avoid standing in line. Wrong! We chatted with another tool collector we had met in line a few weeks ago. Very nice gentleman. After a lengthy wait we finally got inside and although the tools were scattered all over the house we came home with a decent haul, particularly for a Barcalo collector. The first picture is everything. Next are the Plomb followed by Proto LA/Proto. Next is the mostly =v= Craftsman and last but not least a Barcalo roll with several wrenches. The previous owner was really into marking his tools but I will be able to complete the roll. Like Lugz, I reluctantly left behind a military cantilever toolbox but I already have too many. I did get a picture of the label.

Little bit of sunshine at the end of the working week here in Yorkshire gave me an opportunity to hit a salvage yard on the way home.
Was looking for furniture but came away with a large ALU-MIN-IUM Kennedy mitre clamp . [emoji12]

Like the dual pivots that allow you to potentially clamp different widths together.

£5 spent and a couple of Antique flea markets to visit on Sunday

Speaking of "ALUMINUM" (lol@oilynails)
I grabbed this behemoth today.
Mostly because It was solid cast aluminum and looks badass. It runs, but I don't know jack about planes let alone 25+ lb electric ones.

Nothing for scale except my size 14s in a couple pics. It's gotta be near 2 feet long. Looking at the pics, by the cast in name it looks like there was a tag that was removed.

Where are the two knobby wheels and handlebars for that thing, dave! :)

Nice save on the ext lugz.
Thanks. Nice haul yerself!

Like Lugz, I reluctantly left behind a military cantilever toolbox but I already have too many.
Leaving things behind is a sign of a seasoned, selective picker. (Or a thin wallet!) That box was post-war anyway. :)

Lol, from what I can tell Mall Tools was bought by Remington Arms company in 1956, which would explain the Remington 1/2 electric corded impact I saw a while back.

This thing on the other hand might be a great candidate for the don long treatment. Hmm.

I picked up a couple other things this week. Teaser photo.

attachment.php

These were "compensation buys". I picked up some extra consulting work that is taking me to Fort Huachuca, Arizona one week out of every month. That is 3 less flea market weekdays out of the 12 per month I normally get. On top of that, I am umpiring baseball games on the weekends. I was a HS and college (D3) umpire for many years and gave it up when my older boys were playing HS ball. An old friend talked me into taking an AAU schedule. That is going to take away a lot of my weekend flea markets. So I have been upping my game on "other" sources (i.e., CL, LetGo, OfferUp, etc) to compensate for the lost flea market days.

More photos of the K-D ratcheting wrench set here, and the near-complete (missing a 3440) Plomb LA tappet wrench set here.

Hi, Robbie B!For a wide audience, it's hard to beat the 300 million users on Ebay, if you dont mind shipping items.
Good luck moving your stuff along!

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

You can sell locally-only on eBay too. In the shipping section of your listing, select "local pickup only".
Simple as that. You can still get paid through PayPal.

Hit a few estate sales this AM, with pretty good results. The first was a last minute find and by far the best stop. The second was so-so and third was a long drive for nothing.
Anyway, I jumbled everything together, so...

Proto screw extractor, misc Proto sockets, Proto and Snap-on feeler gauges, a pin handle, SK ratchets and an extension. A Proto phillips #2, Reechit ratchet, a Starrett tri-square, very large cutting bit in its tube, and a neat little travel razor.

An RCA Multimeter, which had bad batteries in it, so not sure if it works.
Oh, that black box things are sitting on?

A vintage Toyota tool box!

I just got one of those RCA Multi-meters at the flea. I gave it to a friend of mine whose dad ran a RCA appliance store in KY. He had to change out all the batteries (I believe it has C & AA & 9V) batt. were corroded but terminals were clean. Fired up fine after that. He said it was from lesson #4 of the RCA home correspondence course.

Great scores guys! I'm living vicariously though you guys this week so far. NOTHING to even go to yesterday and today looks real thin

If the multimeter uses std batteries, that's great! Many older units used some oddball voltage/size battery that is NLA... I suppose you could try to cobble one up with a lot of AAA's or several 9V in series.

Cool Toy tool box! I like that! it would be cool to find one for he Newish to me Project van..

The Multimeter takes one C battery and one A. I have never come across an A battery before, but this one, while corroded, was still in its cardboard and said six volts, so I will wire some in series. There is a lot of room in there so its all good. The terminals are clean so that helps.

one or the other of these? You used to be able to buy these at Radioshack. Do you have a Fry's nearby?

Craigslist buy the other day. A 5 inch Wilton vise with a cracked swivel base. $40.00
I am a welder will repair it. No pics still in the car, cold and snowy since I got it.
Local surplus store has 1/2 inch breaker bars black finish about 12 in long for $2.95 still in the crate.

Back to the flea today to pick through some more Bonney. (Over)paid $30. Also noticed a good load of Plomb and Firestone-branded Plomb. I do not buy it, but thought it was worth showing.

:shocking: Gaah! That is a lot of Firestone in one place! Did all three of the midget cases have sets or partial sets in them? And even though you don't buy it, what were the prices like? Also, if there is a 1-7/16" end on the other end of that Pebble DOE with the 1-1/4" end showing, it would be a 3061, which is one of only two DOE's Roy Olson needs to complete his 30xx series set.

Anyone know the source of these torque wrenches?

It maybe a DOE!! running some rough lengths compared the 5467 it is too short to be a 1240 combo. It still could be a 3055 but if the wrench is up against the side it is very likely a 3061!!
I have never seen so much firestone in one place. The wrenches are super rare.

Also the female tear drop ratchet tucked in the top left of picture are a rare bird as well. It appears to be missing the plug but still an amazing rare ratchet.
Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrenches 3061, 3070,

Northeastern PA is not in my normal hunting range, Roy, but LS may see the guy again. And I do know someone else who bought one of the Firestone midget sets. He may have the seller's name & contact info. I will ask.

Great Pile Dave!

I wasn't expecting a Ho Hum day at best with one possible light at the end of the tunnel. I did far better than I ever expected!

Only three stops planned and one was a tiny Flea.

First stop wa a TOO not far from my house, and two 4 oz rolls of new 16 ga copper wire for a buck.

The the Flea where I got the center pivot trammel for a drafting beam compass. next was the estate sale that seemed good and Wow...

The guy was an iron worker and did a lot of wrought iron. If I were in truck with help, and had a barn to store the stuff, I'd have bought them out.

Racks of box and flat stock for wrought iron work I counted three cutoff band saws, a power hack saw, Two machinists vise (I bought one) various bench punches a a DP, arc welder, steel outside bench, I can't remember all the other stuff.

So I landed a Proto rubber mallet, 5 replacement handles, and a Reed 104R for $15

attachment.php

attachment.php

The I got a band saw blade welder for $10! :rocker: I've been looking for one of these for couple of decades at least!

attachment.php

Then I found a Scroll bender: Hopefully all of it, as wel as another smaller bender; another ten for both!

attachment.php

attachment.php

With that I felt I had cherry picked it for what I could use. Still left behind a 30 ton press that was tempting, but I have a press...

Off to ES #2, and more cherry picking where I got the Long Proto and Indestro ratchets, the sockets were all Indestro except the impact which was proto. A body hammer, and some targets.

and there is the wire and Trammel I mentioned.

attachment.php

But the highlight of the day was definitely the band saw blade welder :pimpflash
