My wife wanted to hire a dozer and bury it all but I was too stubborn. I went through it with a rake and salvaged everything I could. Wrenches 3/4" and below are still good. The larger ones bend. I still use them to remind me. I heat treated the drill bits and still use a lot of them. Same with wood chisels, just turned handles for them. Wood lathe tools were heat treated and they are the ones I use, as is the burned wood lathe. The stepped pulleys were melted but headstock bearings are still good. The live tailstock center finally gave out years ago.
I'm still using my radial arm saw base under some belt sanders and polishing wheels.
I stacked up all the armatures I could find, thirty or forty from drills, routers, motors, grinders, etc. I was very surprised how many there were. The old heavy Belsaw 12 inch molder planer was salvageable, as was my trip hammer. I salvaged my Craftsman jointer too, and still use it.
It was better than a tornado, at least I knew where everything was.

I didn't get a cake but lots of pies, and it's warm enough to walk in them barefoot.
Got some brass and copper scrap from a plumber. He had this old water heater at his shop. It's an oldie.
Looks to me like it could have been coal fired before converting to gas.

I'm making a vise lock for some guy, and threaded it today. Looked like the threads are not 60 degree. So I made a cardboard template for 50 degrees and 55 degrees so I could fit them in the threads.
Looks like it is 55 degrees, back where the threads had not been pulled.
Ground a 55 degree tool
Turned out so:
I also made a pour in a glass flask, for those of you who like to see me bust my glass.

Wow, that swivel lock looks great! I wonder what was with the peculiar thread; why wouldn't they just use a normal bolt? I suppose the chunk it threads into is replaceable, but you would think they'd all be standard coarse.

The pour video was interesting in that watching fill then you see the metal turn as it cools. Then the pop!!!!

Thanks! The thread mystifies me. I couldn't find any metric threads which were close. But I didn't check British standards. The old one would screw into a 5/8"-11 nut 2-1/2 turns so I machined this one until it would go in the same nut a little over two turns.

Nice video - that high temperature glass worked a lot better for you. I'll be interested to see if the cooling air prevents the breakage. Knowing you, I'm sure you'll be comparing the heat capacity of the air vs. a water bath (or maybe just guess for the next trial - after all, the breakage makes for great video productions from your fancy motion picture studio!). Those videos are perfect for someone from the Show Me State.

I'm thinking the water bath might provide too good of a job for cooling. It's a job, but I'll bust my glass trying.
For me, I was about ten years old, I remember it was cool but fresh and very green as it oozed up between my toes. After a half hour you couldn't tell where I'd been.
Keep waking up? Just how do you know how many naps I take in a day?
We had a great family gathering for Easter and I didn't have to cook.

Carried four heavy sheets of solid birch plywood into the woodshop today and ripped it for three more shelving units. Hard part is done.

The water heater is not mine, just in a little museum on the front porch of an old house used for the plumber's warehouse.
She was pleased with the shelf, and wants the other three
We're in the mid sixties with occasional rain. A very damp and cloudy April.

Let's just make a lost foam one in aluminum.
I'm still struggling with my computer. Now my USB hub which lets me connect my phone to download pictures is losing power intermittently. I've ordered two more.
I did get all the shelves and sides for the three remaining cabinets cut to length.
Just finishing up now.
Doing some casting, and I need more runner patterns. They are 0.024 thick and 0.234 wide. Easy when cutting them off a wide board, but I have one stick which is just a little too wide and tapered.
I need a zero clearance insert for a cut that narrow, but don't have one. I used to have an oak one which would fit right into the insert hole. The quick way is to lay a piece of scrap next to the rip fence.
Clamp it down, turn on the saw and raise it through the scrap.
Use a couple of push stick and job is done. I did make one push stick a little narrower doing this.
Another water heater at the plumber's front porch museum. (I like that old urinal)
Double wall, cast as one piece. Pretty cool.

Once that water heater heated up it would keep the water hot for a long time would be my guess. Man that wall looks thick.

My new phone is not playing nice with my PC either. Seems it doesn't like the USB ports or cable... I upload my pictures directly to GJ from my phone or email them to myself now. Seems to be a little easier..

And with an aluminum seat, you could toast your buns on a hot summer afternoon as well.
It is easy to make a larger wooden box if my current box is not larger enough.

Ummm, heavy.
It would hold a lot of heat. That is a double wall, I'm sure. The ports are plugged on the top, both sides. It's still 1/4" or 3/8" wall. I know I could not cast it at my skill level.
So far I have eschewed apps on my phone. Avoiding clutter and the Apple Store. Dinosaur.
Since I only have Yahoo mail emailing photos does not get them to my computer very well. I should try that again. The USB hub does work well.
Your fence may need adjusting. I have resisted buying a nice fence. Why I don't know. I'm not a Craftsman purist. With mine, once it was adjusted just a few thousandths wide at the back from being parallel with the blade I have to slap it gently to move it a hair then slap it forward before locking it. It's like how the Three Stooges aligned each other. If I don't slap it forward it will go off half cocked.
I did make a core box. A guy has challenged me to pour a 1-1/2" OD pipe 1/4" wall as a sand casting and leak test it while he does the same with a lost foam casting. Antifreeze mix 15 minutes at 30 psi. Or 30 at 15
So I need a 1" core for the ID and chose a piece of sucker rod. Here it is in a box half full of plaster of paris. Lineup holes made after the plaster was firm.
Thinking out of the box. I drilled a shallow lineup hole in each end of the box to hold the shaft.
Ready to make a core. I'm going to try to put a copper wire down the middle and pull it out to ventilate the core for CO2 access. It's 9" long.
My son in law called and wanted me to patch the church roof. Didn't want to do that but I went anyway. Part of the ridge cap had blown off. When I got there I saw a four foot section had come off in one piece, nails pulled through the shingle under the lap. They were probably nailed too aggressively but it is 15 years old.
Don't look kids, it's ugly.
Whoever put it on did not put in the last two nails, which are left exposed. That let the wind get under it So I went the other route and nailed every tab. I'll go back and tar the nail heads.
Nice morning to be on the roof and only took a few minutes. I did add some nails to the ends of all the other caps.

I did post up another video. This is a glass flask (Bust My Glass!) with a spin basin to absorb the shock wave at the end of a runner, feeding the mold off the side. More work to do...
And I made a box so if I should break some glass playing around it wont go everywhere.
