I may be asking for unobtanium here, but does anyone make a small tool cart with something like an 18" X 24" (at a minimum) surface that can be adjusted height wise to work as either a tool cart while doing brake jobs/down low work while siting on a low shop stool to a comfortable height to use while standing and doing under the hood work?
And let me throw in that it needs to be able to be folded up and put away when not in use so those with the horizontal **** storage disease does not turn it into another pile of **** we are too lazy to put away, thus being useless the next time we need it. :lol_hitti

I had to do a radiator/ condenser and core support swap on my daughters Nissan Sentra Saturday. Of course you start heading to the wall of tool box to pull tools one at a time and before I know it, I have more tools piled up and balancing on engine covers, fender edges, bumpers, etc...

Doing her brakes in two to three weeks. Thinking ahead now!

And when it's time to put them away, I'm making 8 trips to get them all put away. Clean up would be much easier with everything on one cart that I could empty, fold up and put away.

Something along these lines. I'm thinking maybe modify a small hand truck with shelves that fold down.

Harbor Freight has this little cart I may be able to build a plywood shelf to attach to it. All the way down for low work, and up high for waist level work.

Well at that price, I might as well grab a half dozen!
But thanks for the link. I does give me a wild *** idea with a Radio Flyer wagon!

The Hazet trolly is a cult favorite, especially for the VW and Porsche guys. They have been making them since the early 60’s and show up in lots of pictures of 60’s race pits.

Clearly not what what you are looking for but sometimes I can’t resist sending someone down the rabbit hole..... especially the ones I have been down before.

I have never seen an inexpensive and widely available version of this concept, unfortunately. Beta has one, but again it is not cheap:

There's this:

https://rhinotufftools.com/

I am considering buying one.

The top tray can be used in the collapsed position, and apparently the thing will unfold (raise up) without clearing the top tray (probably depends on how much stuff is in it :) ).

Not inexpensive, but it fits the description.

$800 :shocking: But Googling it I did find this little fold up cart for under $100

Should be sturdy enough to hold a dozen wrenches and sockets and a few M12 & M18 tools.

Maybe something like this. https://www.wernerco.com/us/products/scaffold-platforms/rolling-scaffolds/PS-48Series/PS-48 I have one and use it for more than a scaffold. I've loaded my small air compressor, miter saw, several power tools in their cases, etc. I could roll it all at once around the backyard along the pool when working on my pool house. I also use it quite often for a board rack to dry painted boards. It folds up flat and I have mine up on hooks behind a door in my work room.

I just use a clear plastic box. I throw all the tools in and “haul” it back to the toolbox.
It’s not very hard and it is not heavy. If you want just put it on a movers dolly.

User name is fitting :lol_hitti Sorry, couldn't resist that one! But a plastic box doesn't provide a nice waste height flat surface to lay my tools out on for easy selection while working. Its about having tools at hand during the job and ease of getting them all back to the tool chest at once along with a product that folds up and I can put away while not in use.

I really like that folding scaffold system. A little large for what I'm thinking of, but that's a really nice one.

I'm thinking hard about this one. Drawback is the storage issue when not in use, but pros might outweigh the cons of my limited storage area. I could use it as a perfect table for my Dewalt table saw so I can set the height for wood to slid onto my bench, great for lifting heavy items in the garage and perfect for my temporary tool storage while working on cars. :headscrat Giving this one some serious though since I saw the earlier post yesterday.
