I have recently come into a boatload of gold plated Mac Tools. Mostly negative comments online. Do I use them? Am I going to ruin something that's worth money?:headscrat

I think they are anniversary specials. Put them on black velvet background and they will look like a million bucks.

Having shiny tools that you cannot use is something I don't get. Snap on and Mac really know how to milk those people who buy these things for all they are worth.

One of the mechanics I worked with has every Gold MAC" collectable" ever offered. If you have the money for those expensive dust collectors, go for it. They work just like the regular MAC tools.
I would rather buy more and different tools than tie money up in gold plated tools. I buy some crazy expensive stuff, but I cannot bring myself to spend extra money on gold plated MAC tools. I like MAC and I have lots of it, but...………...

Bondhus has gold plated L keys. They are cheap enough that you can buy a set, use it and not feel guilty. (Also useful if you work on a lot of machines that are painted black.)

They also don't rust unless you gouge it or wear the plating off. I only have one, a long ball end 1/2" and it seems like a nice finish. However it does add thickness to the hex, it can be tight fitting in new SHCS. Can be a good thing, can be irritating.

I have the gold 3/8 ratchet and use it semi-regularly. Got it for free, so I don't have any value ******* in it. It is nice because it helps remind me not to beat the piss out of whatever I'm working on with the handle. Not sure how the plating would hold up on those gold screwdrivers or sockets, but the ratchet head only has a few scratches so far. It looks ridiculous, but it makes me feel big pimpin', and isn't that what really matters in life.
