I am seeing a ton of M12 3/8" drill kits with extras (HD promos). Not so much of 1/2". What am I missing?

It's the M12 FUEL drills that have a 1/2" chuck the brushed models are only 3/8"

And the M12 hammer drill version is mainly combo'd up with the M12 fuel impact driver and time after time that kit has often been promoted with a free tool like the ratchet, rover light, RA drill, brushed hackzall etc.

Usually a good buy

I bought the M12 1/2" hammer drill about 5yrs ago and it's great with one exception; it's longer and heavier than my M18.

As a result, the only time it gets used now is when I have work where using more than one drill is more efficient than switching bits over the course of the job.

The M12s I have used could have a 1/2" chuck but would be damn near useless when trying to use a 1/2" bit in mild steel. The M18s struggle as it is.

You obviously weren't using a Fuel model if it was only 3/8" chuck. World of difference between the two models.

I had the 1/2" first gen Fuel hammerdrill. I think I used it once before the GF's dirtball son thought he needed a fix more than I needed my drill.

Agreed, my M12 Fuel 1/2" dril has drilled dozens of 1/2" holes in steel. And 1000's of large diameter holes in steel plate.

Yes the M18 Fuel is much better suited for it, but the M12 Fuel is truly a beast, hence the weight.

Load the M12 Fuel w/ a step bit and you can do 1" ø holes in 1/2" plate.
