Picked up wood yesterday, and started framing today. Would be further along, but I bruised a rib/pulled a muscle, and it is making slow going on my part.
First time doing anything like this, along with using a nail gun... so far, no nails through any body parts. LOL

You garage space looks great. I can see your a ford guy too. What color exactly is that orange? Im looking for a good color for my 56 f100 project. Any other pics of the truck would be sweet too. Sorry this is off topic, its just that color looks great.

Don't have a clue what the actual color is, the wife bought the truck with the paint job on it... here are some other pics:

looks like you've taken to framing just fine! I like to step on the stud more than 6 inches away from the piece that I'm affixing so that even a missed shot, or a re-direct from hitting a knot will hit air instead of me.

edit: one other framing tip in case it's useful.. if I'm doing a lot of 16" OC, I'll cut a spacer block so I can get the studs perfect without having to pull out the measure repeatedly

Love that truck too!

The easy way to wall frame (for me anyway) and space studs is to put your plates side by side then measure and mark both at the same time. Make the same notes in the same spots, then bang away. Eye protection, ear muff and keep yer toes at least a bit farther away than the nail length!

Today's progress... this would probably go faster if I was not doing this myself. LOL

Pulled back muscle isn't helping either.

Picking up a hung door tomorrow, so that wall will be done Friday or Saturday.

Looks like a great start. Keep the photos and words coming. Soon building similar in my shop. A little sick of whizzing outside and hearing the wife crab about me coming into the house, greasy hand prints all over, when I need more than standing up. And I won't even mention friends coming over to...well, you know.

I understand....

My Lightning club is having a gathering at our place at the end of March, and the wife did not want 30+ people tracking in and out of the house, which I can understand.

Is your drain in the right spot with the added stud width?

What brand of tractor is that? Do you have more pictures?

Which drain? sink drain? toilet drain? shower drain?

The tractor is a New Holland TZ25DA... a little Cat 1, 3 cyl diesel. It has a 60" mid mount mower... perfect for our 4 acres.

Seems like a big bathroom. Will you have a shower in there too?

Yes, there will be a shower in it, eventually.

It was made way bigger than it needed to be... it will be used for storage on top.

A spacer block is a poor idea for stud centers. It will just lead to accumulative error. Just use the 16" centers on your tape and mark both plates at the same time like the earlier post stated. I like the old truck. :)

Yeah, ended up not doing it... there is enough error in how I do it anyways. :D

Thanks on the '53 Ford... it is my wifes truck

I have my water heater on top of the bathroom roof + room for storage. 930

yeah, don't know what I'm going to do there... go with an electric water heater, or put in one of those tankless jobbies.

Thank god. I mis read what you said and I thought you threw a party in your bathroom. ;) Nice frame work on your bathroom. Its always a little weird when you do it your self the first time. I did some frameing in my garage once with a hammer and I sware I'll never do it again without a nail gun.

I want to leave the inside walls open (why, I don't know)... but need to come up with something to cover up (or coat) the plumbing, to protect it from uv rays.
