Hello,

I am joining because I have found useful information on here, believe in reciprocity, and hope I will be able to meaningfully contribute.

My day job is engineering, but I am a licensed aircraft pilot and mechanic as well.

I have built some hangars in Zelienople, PA, and have accumulated eeuipment aling the way. You can’t drive any of it to a local shop, so I maintain it myself. Mopping the floor of dripping hydraulic fluid with my hair and clothes while my face us rubbing the bottom of the equipment and I am feeling for the right wrench and wishing I had a few more joints in my arm has gotten old.

In addition, I’d like to work on vehicles I have, but is too much of a pain without a lift.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. Since I gave equipment ranging from a TB-37 boom lift to an early 50s hyster 3 wheeler that is only 36” wide, I have purchased a Nussbaum HF NT 12000 lb lift. I will review it once I get it set up.

Welcome to the GJ from a fellow #AvGeek

Looks like you are in the PA area... so I'm going to take a guess and say engineer at Lycoming engines? I was a project/program manager for a number of different aerospace companies over the years.

I completely align with your reciprocity mantra. Sharing knowledge and engaging with fellow enthusiasts is one of the reasons I started my YouTube channel.

Again, welcome to the forum and I look forward to some of your equipment reviews

I don’t work for Lycoming. They are in the top middle of PA, and I am just north of Pittsburgh.

I do consulting, and travel a lot as a result. I moved to PA ten years ago, from CA, when my wife took a job here. Since I travel a lot, it didn’t matter to me, but my official office is still in Los Angeles.

There were no hangars around for my airplanes (Cessna 310 and 421) when I moved here, and after a few years of waiting, worked with the local airport to build some. Seeing an opportunity, I wound up building some for rental as well, about 40,000 sq foot in total. I kept a 65x62 for myself.

Now they are finally done, and I can finally move all my stuff that is still in CA to PA, except that my hangar has filled up with equipment in the meantime, so I need to make room.

So here are a few pictures of "my hangar" and some of my equipment.

The first one shows the general hangar interior, one of my Schmidt brooms, and my son's '88 Fiero. Since this one was taken last year, I have added pallet racks to the far wall.

The second one shows the hangar from the other side, and my 2008 Belos Trans Giant municipal tractor, as I was pulling the bed off (I bought it used from Ticonderoga, and it was very corroded as they used it for salting sidewalks).

The third one is from a few weeks ago and shows a Cessna 170 undergoing surgery in the hangar, as a member of the club that owns it went 3-wheeling and ran over a runway sign. Two new lower skins and a bulkhead.

The last one is a closeup of the repairs to the 170. The municipal tractor is in the background with a smaller broom on it. It is currently laid up until I can reinstall the main hydraulic valve body.

Welcome to Garage Journal. Not very far Southwest of you. The wide range of your equipment makes the hanger look like a really cool place to hang out. Look forward to seeing your review of the Nussbaum lift.

I was not even close! Great looking hangar BTW! Welcome!
