Wow, JoCo, that lamp is cool. Looks like the base was assembled from spare parts from Robbie the Robot!

Yeah that base is cool. Cast iron and weighs a ton. I'd been looking for some kind of gooseneck lamp for that particular bench that I can move out of the way when I need the out feed room for the saw. This one fits the bill perfectly.

If I ran across a base like that I'd resurrect my old MagnaLight and get some good out of it.

Got this Kero-Sun Omni 105 kerosene heater for $1. Hope I didn’t overpay. Don’t know if it works but figured it was worth the chance for the money....

It's very likely that all it needs is cleaning and a new wick; then it will be literally as good as new.

Taking somewhat of the same approach, I bought this vintage Snap-on hand box today. Has some interesting lettering on the lid. And was full of rusty old tools. More on those in a bit.

At another stop bought this 1972 KRA-280 in good shape, but painted green. Same stop also grabbed these Gregorian solid copper mugs.

Now onto rusty tools: there are a few interesting pieces. Highlights would be the wrenches, particularly the heavy S-wrench marked Special, 360 or 36D (can't tell), a forged in B in a triangle. Billings and Spencer? Sizes appear to be 25/32" and 1-1/8". (The other S-wrench has no markings).

The big DOE wrench has no markings. Sizes 2-1/16" and 1-9/16". Open ends are chipped.

Cast iron DBE wrench no markings except RA 224. Sized 1-5/16" and 1-3/16".

Walden-Worcester TeeFlex in 1/2" is kinda neat.

Craftsman 3/8 rat is a QR USA -VN- 44811 but is rusty. Vlchek DOE with bad rust pitting. Handful of Xcelite and Craftsman nutdrivers and a multi-bit screwdriver with no bits. What appears to be a lone puller jaw. Old hex drive socket welded to the hex key driver. Nothing else very special. I threw away about 3 lbs of rusty nails and screws floating around in the bottom.

I picked up a 24" pinch bar for $2.00 last weekend. I didn't even know Snap on made them.

Went back to the vacant lot tool sale I went to on Friday to dig some more. Picked up another 135 pieces for $75. Biggest bunch was 39 wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers from Husky and 14 from Craftsman. Rest was 1 or 2 pieces of Indestro, Williams, Irwon, Xcelite, Kobalt, KD, Proto, Herbrand, Penens, and SK tool box, and several unbranded US made wrenches.fbd92121713c24bf4475ed9c5f079f69.jpgf4c311cc768efe4cb3732f950c1df723.jpg571cbea789ded3e258c2a70415a3ba4a.jpg6af678650aa2ab97e2ba3f2462e1ea95.jpg69634c8f65bc525966330199cf8890f6.jpg2ffe95e37d0f898aaca70972d9bd73cb.jpg3a5316037004fb52cc3eb9c68b25d6b3.jpg9a6e2d66d91cc319fbac285099805bff.jpg24b1d989f4bb3bc249b9cebb8ad2e752.jpg

Gidge, How wide are the jaws?

Its a Colton patent vise:

George A. Colton patent holder, No. 320,224. Patented June 16, 1885. H&B, Inmarks, Phoenix and unmarked examples exist. "Mfg by Moore & Barnes Manufacturing Co. of Phoenix, N. Y.": According to patent info?
http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=7259

Any markings on the Saw? how long a blade?

Outlaw : Thanks for the patent information !

The jaws on the vise are 1.625" and the vise fully extended is 2.5" --- I'm thinking maybe it's a jeweler's vise ?

The saw says SIMONDS on one side and 8 IN on the other (although the actual measurement of the blade is 8.625").

There were two events at the local fairgrounds today. An old car swap meet and the regular monthly flea market. I'll show the swap meet finds here.

Two packages of oil cups and an Ace die holder
Proto size field 7/16 combo
Barcalo DOE 3/8x7/16
Unmarked 1/2" drive L-handle
Winged-V Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet
Williams B-52 ratchet

The flea market had some good items.

Four toe (edge) clamps for holding work to a milling machine table
Barcalo DBE 3/8x7/16
Indestro obstruction DOE 7/16x1/2
P&C 8" adjustable
Powr-Kraft 1/2 combo "V" style
Powr-Kraft 3/8 combo
Powr-Kraft 7.16 combo
Craftsman Geometric-C combo 11/16
Craftsman Geometric-C combo 3/4
Proto combo 13/16
Craftsman Flex 3/8 ratchet
Craftsman Flex 3/8 ratchet RHFT
P&C 14" pipe wrench
3 file handles

At $20.00, the toe clamps were a real bargain. They even came with hardware!

This is my second RHFT flex ratchet in the two week period! I had to pay $10.00 for this one, but it is in better shape.

I bought the file handles for a friend.

I got my first red/gray chest over the weekend. Seller wanted $17 I got him down to $15. From what I learned on the other thread it's a 60-65 era box. I'm pretty happy.

That grey/red box was my second toolbox! Early to mid 70's. I believe they switched to the Red frame with dark grey drawers around mid to late 70's. My first box was a Craftsman 2 drawer Rally box.

Why not just look at the inside left front corner of the top tray (not the removable tray) and get the exact month & year of manufacture? Just saying. :) Nice 10 drawer!

Edit: Oh yeah, for $15 around these parts that would be a YOU **** price!
2nd edit: I see that it's a pre-date stamp toolbox. Very cool!

ANOTHER size I don't have... I have 1.525 and 1.720 Unbelievable how many slightly incremental sizes there are!

Jewelers or hobbyist vise. Apparently a LOT of these were made.

Interesting Saw! usually the go 6 10 and 12" blades...

Wonderful, that box looks to be in great shape other than the "miscellaneous" drawer. And for $15, you definitely ****!

Picked up an articulated floor lamp at a flea today for 25 bucks. The data plate is gone. The articulation joints scream Dazor but I've never seen a Dazor base like this. Any lamp experts out there? It's incandescent, not fluorescent. Other picks were a tankless Craftsman air compressor that's filthy but in good working order, a Long C abrasive disc in original packaging and a set of masonry bits in a nifty wooden box.

The articulated portion does scream Dazor and I have never seen a base like that either. I have the same articulated lamp with a screw on base mounted on my grinder cart. A led flood light and your good to go.

There were several manufacturers of these sorts of lamps and they either used common parts or a lot of Franken-Dazor-Luxo work has occurred over the years. I'm in the 9-10 range on articulated lamps and magnifiers.

Cheers

The monthly town flea didn't happen and the local vintage (junk) shop was closed, so my only recent find is from the 'bay. I've been looking for one of these comparing watch cases for a while and finally found a NOS surplus one with box (not pictured) for a great price. The second picture shows the case housing my Hamilton 4992b GCT.

Re: Craftsman 12 piece punch and chisel set from 60's

What logo is on the pieces? Long C or Heritage era =CRAFTSMAN=? .

All of the punches have the Heritage =CRAFTSMAN= markings. So it is likely a transitional packaging item. My post above #2845, the 1/4" drive Craftsman set are BE marked and all have the Long C underline. Thanks for the details.

Nothing life changing, but the price was right.
Stamped steel work bench legs and 8' cross brace...just needs a new top. This was FREE out of the scrap hopper at work.

On Sunday, I hit a local auto swap, picking up the following:

Thorsen 1/2 socket set from the early '70s $10, P&C caulking iron and Long C brace bits for a buck, Greenlee armored cable cutter and wartime SK box for five, a Lufkin and two Stanley boxwood rulers for $5, 27/32 MT2 drill bit, misc. Blackhawk and SK sockets, Starret tachometer for $4,

Snap-on BF500 paint gun (this was on the dollar table!) and

1929 Stanley sweetheart catalog for $15. I also picked up a Wright 1/2 socket tray, a Proto 3/8 breaker bar, and an unmarked chisel for a couple of bucks. I also ran into Oregon Rock Crusher and Provincial and got a tour of Provincials wonderful shop afterward. I very nice day in all.

Came across some hand tools today. This won't excite most of you but I am excited. Some of these were posted on CL months ago for $200 each. At that time, I respectfully sent a response asking where they came up with those prices. The woman let me know she had no idea and it was just that she thought they were very rare. After three or four months of trying to get together today it finally came off. Paid less for all eight than she had previously been asking for just one. In the end, she had no attachment to them and didn't want me to leave without taking them and putting some money in her pocket. I think two of them are junkers (Corsair #4 with plastic handles and a #5 unmarked but with a Wards Master iron and a Ace Hardware lever cap). The others should make good users. The Union #6 needs a lateral adjustment lever. All except one of the Stanley planes appear to be in good condition with original parts and from the '20s to early '30s. That "other one" may not be a Stanley as it isn't marked Stanley and has a whale tail lateral adjustment lever but for all other intents and purposes it sure looks like a Stanley #4 to me.
