I have been a huge fan of Plomb and Proto tools for as long as I have been searching the junk piles. I bought a wrench today that is double branded. My understanding of why they went with new Proto name was due to legal action disallowing the Plomb name and logo. It seems odd to see both names on the same wrench. When were these produced?

Thanks in advance.

Fantastic research Lugz, I read through it again just to brush up.
Thanks. Believe it or not, there are so many data points, I have to do the same thing from time to time.

The 1948 plomb catalog
That was a paper only change, OTG. If you check AA and the Van Atta site, they also date the dual-marked tools to 1948 based on the first PRVTV TM. The problem is that AA and the folks responsible for the early Plomb research that landed up on the Van Atta site did not read the details of the TM application, which states paper only. Essentially, Pendleton tried to pull a fast one in 1948, slapping PRVTV on decals and tags and ads, and it didn't work. When Plumb called him on it again in court, in November 1948, Pendleton tried to pull yet another fast one, shutting down operations in December 1948, and re-opening in early January 1949 with the dual-marked PLVMB-PRVTV tools. In late January 1949 he got slapped with a final contempt suit, and was given until March 1950 to comply. The new PROTO TM, which included tools, was not granted until 1950. See the link I provided above for details. Post #8 is the summary.
