Looking for ideas as I'm at a stop for hardware for support. I have a solid core wood door as a flip up bench due to a shortage of space...what do you have?

Your garage is so cool. You are obviously a master at utilizing every bit of space. Very creative.

How much space did you allow between the back "hanger board" and the worktop when it is folded up?

Have you ever had them become unlatched and fall?

Me on the other hand, very wasteful by comparison. Thank goodness I have a lot of space.

Thanks. I didn't put any kind of spacer on either of them -- although that might have been a good idea. The way they're done, the tops of each of them could press completely flat against the wall, except for the small space created by the hinge itself. When they're in the up position, I let the metal one lean out more at the top so that I can store all those clamps. If I had a spacer piece, I could have it vertical and still conceal the clamps.

What was important to me was to use beefy enough hinges and to tie them right into the studs. I can jump up and down on either table and nothing's coming down.

Hey cyamaha2007....why don't you cut the bolts off on the back? It looks like someone could gash themselves pretty good on them when the bench is in the upright position.
