My hunch is it was a wartime military repack (often put away for long term storage in preservative), then surplus, and never used since then. I've found several tools and midget socket sets in that condition. If the pieces have wartime codes, I'd put money on it. And yeah, that decal makes that a very special set. Nice find, Marty!

I think you are correct as there was other wartime items there. I will have to check the date codes.

Stuff from tri-chevy meet and show.
Nichols 18"x24" square for 18" collection. $1.

Heres a clue on how to tell if ur vintage square was originally a 18"er.

Paired up with 18 1/2" x 8 1/2" marking square.

CG Siewers, Cincinnati, Warranted. Marking square, no numbers indicated on the blade. $1.

Owners mark.

Keyhole saws. $1.

3 Williams and 1 Caterpillar/Billings wrenches. The 683 williams is my 1st wild find for "The Board". 4 wrenches 4$, guy didn't know me.

Cream separator 2 hand crank and i guess hydrant wrench. $3.

This seller wanted out of the swap by 11am and giving great stuff away. There was a huge crowd around and at 10 am he sold the rest to highest bidder. $225 bought it and he went to a graduation.

I went through the other Snap On box I got over the weekend and grabbed all the small SO stuff and found the missing pieces to the 9/32 set. It was a one day grab what you can all must be gone sale. The large Snap On box set me back maybe $10. Hard to tell exact price as I had a large pile and dropped less than a hundred dollars.

I finally got to be THAT guy. You know the guy. He's the guy we all hate. We get to a sale and find one or two awesome pieces and ask do you have any more of this?

I did. I had a guy come by earlier and he bought a bunch of stuff.

Yep, that was finally me.

Almost all Snap-on with a few Mac, and the Lincoln. $40 for all. Woo Hoo!

Picked up a nice vintage Romer helmet today.

I did a quick clean up for the pics. Its in pretty good shape. I'll give it a better cleaning overall with good conditioning of the leather.

Now to find a pair of nice vintage Mooneyes water slide decal.

Hit 4 sales today,2 were zero in my basket 1 was quick and close and the last one was very well advertised, well pictured and crowded.I waited 2 hours just to get in,the homeowner had a massive collection of woodworking tools ,it was worth the ordeal just to look. Ended up with a few items from the first sale ,others from the big sale. Got out cheap but was a fullday to get it done.

Went to a engine show and swap last week and picked a case of 6 military surplus searchlight bulbs. 25 volt, 2500 watt. Can't figure out when the 166 cases were shipped to Ft. Belvior. After May 1963 I guess.

Short daylight video lighting 4 of them up to 25 volts.
Short pitch dark video lighting 4 up.

label.

another label.

So, I finally figured out what I did with my phone last week, and can show you what I picked up at a car show on Sunday.

4" Lufkin square, Snap-on long handle 1/2 ratchet (that had been painted silver), Diamond round nose pliers, 1" pully, Plomb and MAC drivers, Starrett scale, Proto LA socket, and a Blue Point obstruction wrench.
Also, an apology to Provincial for missing his text.

BMW, you can't leave us hanging on the lost phone story! :see:
Oh, I just set it down in an odd part of my basement with a dead battery. So, I couldn't call it to get it to ring and it wasn't where I normally put it when I get home. The Law of Flat Surfaces. I will set anything in my hands on the nearest spot absentmindedly. There is a shelf over my washer and dryer made of white MDF and my phone has a white body. I was working on my dryer earlier this week and there you go.

Good luck this weekend, folks! I'm down on Cape Cod for my daughter's graduation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. No nearby sales this weekend and the local flea market and Salvation Army were a bust this morning. I'm also booked with activities for the next several weekends, so I'll have to live vicariously through you all unless something good drops into my lap.

Helping a friend work on his car.

Earlier today, he went to the pick a part, and I stayed home to do yardwork and do my own thing...

Anyway, he texts me “I’m home” so I go down there.

Working on the car, he says “hey! I have something you like.”

Then he hands me this screwdriver. He found it in the pick a part..

“You know I don’t like expensive tools” he tells me....

So yeah...

Continuing the Powerland Swap Meet report:

Photos 1,2, and 3 - Craftsman #5 size plane. Geometric C era. I got this for my niece, who has a project that needs it.

Photo 4 - Milwaukee cordless power tools.

2663-20 1/2" impact wrench
2457-20 3/8" ratchet

These are the previous generation with brush-type motors. They were given by Milwaukee to a youth education program, and saw little use. Proceeds of the sale go to support the program. I paid $25.00 each for them.

Believe it or not I picked my own garage today. The old garage, that is. Enter at your own risk style, it’s literally crumbling and collapsing. No working doors. I don’t expect it to last another winter.

I went in for one thing and one thing only, which I found after a bit of a search. Then it turned into a rescue mission to save and relocate as many hand tools as I could. I know it sounds strange, but it’s either that or let them go. Ended up gathering about 8 cardboard boxes full of sockets, ratchets, wrenches, socket sets, etc.. Still trying to determine what to do with other stuff.

Anyway, almost all of this has never seen GJ, as it was picked up 10-15 years ago.

Did you guys know I had Craftsman BT ratchet hiding in there all this time, because I sure as heck didn’t know. :dunno: Also found four 4” adjustables I had no clue were in there.

Wait till you guys see a Bonney piece that was forgotten in there too. Been so long I didn’t remember it existed! Having some pic trouble but here are a few anyway.
