Picked up a 3756z quick spinner:

koken-ko-ken-3756z-zeal-z-series-quick-spinner-9-5-mm-3-8-inch-review-closer-look-japanese-made-8.jpg

Has already been worth the asking price by making a couple of jobs way easier. Should have got something like this years ago... More pics here:

https://motofaction.org/tool-review...eries-zeal-quick-spinner-9.5-3-8-inch-review/

Also did a short video on it:

I came to the thread, just to say I bought a pair of Stanley pliers, made in Japan for $3 and I ended up buying this 3756z that I never knew I needed.
Another $24 down the...ok $50, but remember two is one and one is none. Man, I really do have a problem.

So, I brought home some tools from Japan including this nicely used vintage Kyoto Tool Company 1/2” set that’s missing a 23mm and 26mm regular sized sockets. I filled in a few of the other missing parts with other mostly KTC components that I have, so it’s not an original set. Still, if anyone happens to have those two KTC sockets as spares (or equivalents) I’d love to make a trade! Thanks for considering!

That is one cool KTC socket set, indeed!

I've got a set, similar to that exact one but mine is Koken, totally complete with all the original tools and original metal case, that I happened to find some years back.

Yea, that would definitely be cool if you can locate or find those two sockets, 23mm & 24mm, to complete the set.

Have you at least tried to research to see exactly what other original KTC tools that came with that set?

I suggest try Ebay or a Japanese Ebay or other Japanese auction websites, it may be time consuming but eventually I think you would find them. :headscrat

Last, have you thought about restoring that metal KTC case?

Strip the original paint, give it a steel wool sanding, treat the metal, apply gray primer, re-paint it a tractor red color then to really give it a notch up, paint the raised lettering white.

After that, clean each tool and socket till they came out shiny and new looking.

That would look awesome restored!

If you ever do it, please post a picture of the completed finish?

Yeah I just saw them a couple weeks ago on Amazon Japan. They share the same numbers as the regular adapters/reducers (2233a) the KH is for these new guys.

Cool, found them as a set here;

山下工業研究所 駆動6角付アダプター 6ヶ組レールセット RS2346/6-KH https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07RXYQBQN/

Pity I’ve got the regular adapter set, hard to justify these, too..

Yeah I saw those but I don’t use or need 3/4 sockets so just got them separate. They also sell them as 1/4-1/4, 3/8-3/8, and 1/2-1/2 with the hex on them as a set. I sold off my old adapters and got these since it has a dual purpose and made by Koken haha.

Is that a small magnet on the KTC adapters for socket retention? Doesn't appear to have a ball retention system in the pictures.

It has a ball retention for the ratchet side and a neodymium magnet for sockets. It’s very strong though. I’ve yet to be disappointed by it.

I searched for the Koken 3217M-00 (6 point) but only see the 3217M (12 point) on the Koken website. Didn't even see the Koken 3217M-00 on the Japanese Amazon. I found some in Germany but they don't ship to the USA. Anyone know where to get the Koken 3217M-00?

The 3217M-00 is available in the UK for £65.40 from Consolidated Tools but I’m not sure if they ship to the US. Be worth an email to [email protected] to find out.

Bag of Megadoras arrived in the mail from Japan today.
Those drivers appear to have shanks that are slightly wider in diameter near the end. I wonder if this is something new. From what vendor did you buy them?

edit: Perhaps it's just some protective clear covering that you remove before use.
Still curious about where you bought them. I've certainly never received a handwritten thank you note with a rubber stamped image of Totoro before!

They do have protective sleeves over the tip on them. I got them on Ebay in an auction for all 4 phillips as a bundle. It was the best price I found including amazon and amazon.jp and some other sites. I also got a matching pack of 4 flat blades as a package from another Japanese seller on the way. Those have not arrived yet. This set took 3 weeks to arrive by slow mail so it depends on if you need them fast or cheap which route you want to go.

The Vessel Megadora screwdrivers are one of my favorites with their brothers the woody.

Just got these Tsunoda cable cutters.

I bought a much smaller pair years ago when I needed some in a hurry, and have been pleasantly surprised how well they have lasted.

I’ve probably used the small ones on heavier cable than I should, so thought I’d get these slightly larger ones! Work nicely, very clean cuts, no crappy soft grips, and not costly!

I even like the colour of the handles!

Not that this needs pointing out, but these should've been the ones if they wanted to make it a fair comparison.

Just ordered a set, and the 3/8" and 1/4" wobble and regular extensions. I already have a set of the 3/8" wobble extensions, but lost the tray. So they will go in the van tool set.

I have just bought the short 3/8 version (3769NWF 160) ... I must say I'm really pleased with it ... although the business end doesn't quite have the finesse of the extension wobbles ... a close-up FYI.

Cause of death?

Trying to tighten a 32mm or 1-1/4” hydraulic union on a skid loader at work. These IPS pliers are thin and light weight and they would fit into places my cobras wouldn’t. I tried wrenches first but the union was turned in a position where nothing else I had would engage on it. The IPS water pump pliers also have a longer jaw then other brands. My own fault, I was holding onto the loader with my hands and pushing my boot on the backside of the handle putting more then my 170lbs on it. I got a few turns out of it but the last time they just went PLINK! I don’t usually break my tools but I usually don’t have to do something as stupid as that
