USA made screwdriver set with tray?

Hey ladies and gents,

I'm looking to replace my old Craftsman screw driver set, they get the job done and are made in the USA but I've broke a few and looking to upgrade. I have them laying in drawer and looks scattered/dirty. Mostly have Snap-on, SK, Klein, Channellock, and Knipex.

Looking for:
Made in USA (maybe Germany..)
Set with a TRAY (something I can lay in toolbox, that looks clean)
Black? Industrial finish over chrome preferably, prefer a hard plastic over a comfort grip (don't think they hold up with time).
Lifetime Warranty

Probably the closest thing I've found is Snap-On, Mac, Williams minus the striking caps / tray.

If you want striking cap screwdrivers I think it is impossible to beat the Wiha extra heavy duty. They don't come with a tray though.

Wera chiseldrivers and Wiha extra duty are probably the most popular options. I have the Wera chiseldrivers and quite like them. They're pretty reasonably priced as well.

Neither of them come with a tray or case though.

That's the word, I was looking for "tray". The Weras have interested me, the color scheme isn't the best though. They should make Redbull edition with striking caps

I do have prybars, but not very small like a screwdriver. Sometimes It's just a metal sleeve, around a bushing I need to knock out.

Stanley had some fatmaxx....a couple more like pry bars. Vessel Japan makes an "impacto" but its phillips(JCS---whatever they refer to them as) type only.
Hazet makes a 5 piece with beatable handles. Those are super. I have a set.They're hex too so you can put some real balls on them.

Mayhew makes some sets my "gearwrench/every other brand ever" tool truck guy sells. I see both prybars and screwdrivers of theirs with metal end-caps. Everything on his truck that is Mayhew is made in USA though i think i've seen a set in Home Depot or some other box store that was Taiwan. But i'm sure a quick google search will find you what you need.

I think I may just upgrade my prybar set, get some smaller striking cap bars. Get a tray basic screw driver set. Problem with using a screw driver as a chisel is the tip gets ruined, and no longer functions well for a screw driver. I've done that to a few demolition screw drivers in my work bag.

I have every size wood handled Felo driver they make. I love them but can't bring myself to hitting those beautiful wood grips with a hammer.

Garrett-Wade sells a copy of an old Irwin design. Solid steel from end to end, with wooden slabs for handles. With these, you can hammer all you want. Use these for real work. Buy a pretty set to look at.

Menards just needs to update the photo. The KC Tool photo is correct. Menards is drop shipping from the supplier. Menards doesn't have them in stores.

Fleet Farm has them in their stores but they're a few bucks more expensive.

Those look pretty rad, How does the wood do do with oil and durability of the wooden handles themselves?

Probably go with a more neutral color; gray, black, etc

I really like the all black snap on screw drivers, with industrial finish but they don't sell them anymore and that's more money than I would like to spend for screw drivers.

as striking cap screwdrivers get abused i just buy the toptul sets which comes with a tray, they superb quality, less than 50 bucks and work great as nice fitting screwdrivers and tough prydrivers etc . for usa made you really limited these days .

I use mine at a workbench, so they don't get that dirty. They're lacquered, but I don't know how the lacquer holds up.

There are plenty of German made sets to choose from. However, the striking cap construction varies from brand to brand slightly. On weras and Felos the cap is relatively small and thin so as not to affect the balance of the screwdriver when using it as a screwdriver. However, on Wiha I find the striking cap feature too thick and heavy that it adversely affects the balance of the screwdriver when using it as an actual screwdriver but, that's just me. Your results may vary. The Mayhew Dominator screwdriver shaped pry bars may be a better choice. It also depends on whether you more time beating on stuff or turning screws.

Ended up picking up some shorter Mayhew pry bars, keep the screwdrivers for screw use. Good call

and I ordered up a set of snap-on screwdrivers. Hurt but I walked it off... lol

I agree. I love that Impacto from Vessel. Why someone in the US doesn't make a full 8 or ten piece set with a similar design is beyond me. Fort that matter why doesn't Vessel ?
In the mean time my lil Proto 3/8 hammer impactor is there in its box and gets used at least twice a week.Small engine stuff mostly.
The 1/2" not so often because I have a 1/2" CP air impact but it's there mostly for away from the shop work.
