The logo struck me as odd too and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen another like it with the Plomb Bobs bracketing a fairly standard P&C Logo. I checked available online catalogs but the only one I found with the toolmobile is from 48' and the catlog cut shows a different emblem and only on the side. I do like it but am not sure what to make of it. Being Blue it wasn't like they would put the bobs on in case it sold as a Plomb. With so few to compare it to it's hard to say why they are on there but I think there was a bit of freehand involved in painting the logos. Ed.

The plomb bobs struck me as odd as well! I moved and needed room so mine went back to rileysan! I can’t believe yours has the tool rack and cover! Only thing you may be missing is keys and the pressboard top they came with originally? Great find !

Good to see you made it back smokeshow. I guess I shouldn't be surprised yours is back with Rilelysan. He is getting into the P&C good stuff. I think I'm just going to put a rubber liner on top of mine and maybe make a key. Still getting it settled into my ever dwindling space. Ed.

Well he is the one who originally found it and so I was glad to get it back to him! He really has some fantastic p&c stuff.

Im the one from California that picked it up. In fact, I just picked it up about an hour ago. I was already going to to be in PHX to see my kids any way, so timing worked perfectly.
I have 2 other Toolmobiles that I have full of Plombs. This is is going to be refinished and probably used in the house. It's an early one, serial number is 1101.

Picked This up a Few Weeks back, Its stamped PRESSWELD Not sure if anyone else has come across this sticker but it seems Newer and it had a Drawer organizer in the Top drawer.

Made those for a long time, maybe into late 70s. Excellent boxes. Virtually unchanged since 40s. Don't know when they switched name to pressweld.

Gonna score a Pressteel stamped Bottom almost identical later this week, how hard would it be to replace the Bottom panel or is it really worth the time? or Try to stay all original? (scored the last one for $65 and and picking up the pressteel for $50)

Replacing a bottom depends on how much you can do yourself, and what a cut sheet that size would cost you to get.

If you have to pay someone to do it the cost would skyrocket.

Most would walk and wait for another.

Wondering why you are replacing the lower panel? It it rusted or bent beyond repair? If not I would recommend repairing it or perhaps reinforcing it ?

Sadly It’s gone all together, (my PRESSWELD is perfect and the a previous owner was a carpenter so he added shelves in the lower flip up. And I really Love the Hemmerite they used its gives a wild texture.) Was considering getting a PRESSTEEL as well and since it’s already been Sprayed over with red so I was thinking about trying to do an Art Deco motif plus at that price... and I always need more drawers (especially since finding this forum haha)

Ok, now I understand... if it is missing, you could fabricate one depending on your sheet metal skills... if not, you could always buy this one for parts? For your price reference, I just sold my green 2 drawer corporate model, missing its front fold down cover for $50. It needed the drawers cleaned of surface rust and the paint needed to be buffed since I wet sanded the surface rust.

Nice grab! In addition to your tool mobile, you also got the almost never found side rail socket organizers. Those would probably sell by themselves for what you paid.

They go back to 30s at least. This is only literature I have found on them.

ALL: I think there was some history maybe earlier in this thread or somewhere about this company so maybe a recap of when they started and stopped making these awesome boxes.

Finally I can join the club! I picked this up off Craig’s list today full of tools for $100. I probably overpaid a bit and it’s just a pressweld, but I couldn’t wait for a toolmobile to show up any longer. On the positive side, it has the original liner on the top and the drawer tray still intact. Looks like it’s already been repainted so I may restore it at some point. Either way it’s getting filled with tools today. The tools were mostly junk, but there were a few keepers in there.

Thanks! Not much once I sorted it out. Highlights were a snap on root head ratchet, some plomb puller jaws, a Stanley sweetheart folding rule, and a cool lutz brass hammer. Plus another S.R. Socket for the collection. This is what was left after I pulled out a 5 gallon bucket of Chinese stuff.

So that still makes the box about a $60-$65 box @ a buck each for the tools. Not bad!

Thanks. It was a nice rainy day so I lined the drawers with cork and filled it up. Top drawer for 1/4” sets, bottom drawer for P&C stuff and some extras, bottom cabinet for some bigger sets, and a sk top chest till I can find a plomb.
