Found this in the mailbox when I came home from work today. Not it's final resting place, but it's in the garage(shed) as a constant reminder. I plan to do some enameling and polishing, too.

I'm the proud owner of #6.

Thanks, Andy! PM

Ahhhh yes.

Huck Finn and co.

You are good at this stuff.

I'm not good at much but I'm having fun!

I think you are thinking of Tom Sawyer. But far be it from me to tell you what you are thinking about. I think about a lot of unrelated things and have not been committed for an extended stay so far.
Not for a long time anyway.

We were thinking about Huckleberry Finn, but obviously we're goobers and we were wrong.

QGBT, probably better than QST unless QGBT is during QST.
Quality Grand Baby Time.

The one of a kind alum-bronze couldn’t go to a better home.

In the military there’s going above and beyond. Casting the QST emblems and including the magnet plus hammers. I salute you.

Just having lots of fun honoring Steve!

Your heart is as big as they come. My hat comes off to salute you for your tireless effort to keep Steve in all our memories

Thank you
Don

Thanks, Don!

Hey! Bobby!

Many of us are doing our bit even you Don. It verifys the Shed / Garage community is a big part of our lives. The GJ is simply the way we all keep it together.

You've done more than anyone, Simon.

Thanks, Jon! If we can each post a picture of the QST sign or emblem on Steve's thread it will be cool to see each of them in different settings. Our sheds are all so similar yet so different. Tied together by Steve's magnanimity.

My great grandson has taken a liking to the yellow car.

attachment.php

He's been working on the old Dodge Cummins. We removed the fuel preheater and replaced the lift pump and power steering pump.

Where'd it go?

attachment.php

Oh, parked in the yard.

attachment.php

And the Chevelle is having transmission troubles so it's getting a new one. Not done on the floor.

attachment.php

Stuck the Dodge in there on 02 Jan 2017. 2-1/2 years while I waited for my new great grandson to show up and do the dirty work for me.

He and my great granddaughter are freshly married. Excellent addition to the family. He'll swap the transmission out in the Chevelle while I cast a sunder or something else.

And, I realized today that this bay is the shed off the original 60x60 pole barn, so this is my shed.

Thanks for looking in.

My pleasure, Slim. Thanks for the kind words, but as you very well know it is Stephen R. Church who deserves the credit for fostering the atmosphere of positive attitudes.

Yes he does deserve a lot of credit, but that doesn't mean you (and a lot of other people) don't deserve some too! I can just hear you saying "Aw shucks. It ain't nuthin" in your southern accent that I've now heard on Youtube! (Great video by the way on making the QST castings!!!:bowdown:) But I best not go too far down that slippery slope and start trying to make a list, because then I'd be sure to miss a lot of people.
Cheers!!!

You've done more than anyone, Simon.

It is fellows like you and GAZZA that have done so much as a tribute. I know I have done many things but with out the community here on the forum I doubt I would have managed. I never want to make another post like I had to after hearing 1/2 had passed.

1/2 of the time now I wonder what Steve would make of all this fuss and sadly we will never know.

Looking great Andy.

Your daily therapy is certainly much more productive than many other retirees

You must almost have time to sleep in your day too.

Many thanks to Andy for teaching me hands on mold making from a match plate. (I hope I have that right.) The best thing is he only charged me 2 brass heat exchangers, 3 aluminum heat exchangers, and 8 aluminum wheels, I tossed in the 8 tires for free. Don't tell anyone but he must have given me a friends of GJ discount. I did manage to walk out with a QST emblem, I haven't decided on the right place for it just yet but will post a photo when I do. As always thanks for all you do Andy, it is truly appreciated.

I don’t think guys like Andy and others like him realise what an impact their mentorship has on many of us out here.

A lot of teasing along the way, but we all learn from each other and walk away better men for it.

She is immensely pleased with the new generation. We have a young friend whom I mentored in his early engineering career. In fact he lived with us and worked on the farm for me summers while going to college. He is very successful now. Stopped by with his three precious children but the youngest one and GiGi hit it off the best.

The beauty of casting, once you learn the pattern it is very easy to be consistent.

Buy some box hardware and make all your flasks snap flasks. You don't have to open them to use them, and they are handy for deflasking as you can pop them open in a flash to get the sand out. Really does not take long to screw the hardware on.

Ha! I like it, but it is composition by chance. When you've got junk everywhere it's hard to keep it out of the pictures.:(

I'm always one step away from being banned. On three forums and at home.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Local junk dealer stopped by. I had nothing to sell, and I guess I looked pitiful so he gave me 8 alloy wheels with tires.

attachment.php

I guess my place looked empty.

I grabbed some radiators off his truck while he was not looking too!

I was really tired so I asked if he'd like to learn to make molds. He was interested so I let him.

attachment.php

He did great. Something about Huckleberry Finn and painting a fence was mentioned but I quickly diverted the conversation.

I poured his mold this morning. Great casting.

Thanks JB!

But I will finish one project (convertible top) so I can drive it to a rod run on Saturday and get a for sale project ready with its convertible top and long list of minor projects.

Something every day...even if it is undoing stuff I did yesterday!

Bruce

It is fun seeing the progress and direction this has taken. I did finally finish the convertible top yesterday (just under 3 years). Love the casting!

Well you have plenty of respect from the members here so I do not know.

:lol_hitti Well that got a laugh.

Kind words are always appreciated, and laughter is the best medicine lest we take ourselves too seriously.

Indeed it did!!

Actually I gave you the tourist price. You seemed nice enough.

Great having you visit JB.:bounce:

Think you missed it in post 7485. My bride told me to tell you thinks for the broom again. It's the best broom she has ever had

I did miss that, so sorry! Thank you.

I think you've got it right Rian, we learn from each other. Each person contributes.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM MATE.

Did Andy give you one of his hammers? :lol_hitti:thumbup::lol_hitti

I don't know. I don't think so, he's got too many electrical problems.

Is that JB's sideline work? JB the scrapman:thumbup:

He's my scrap man, I don't know how many others are on his route.

I think there are only 3 normal stops on my scrap runs, the steel goes to another scrap man, the aluminum and brass go to Andy, and the rest goes home with me. I found a short term place to keep the memento Andy has been making on my drill press:

Been doing a little stuff.

Got Miss Vicky started for the first time in a long time. Got her new fan blade put on.

attachment.php

The transmission gave out in the Chevelle. A few 1/4" square chunks of aluminum in the pan. Ordered a new one from Summit. Packaged very poorly, and the pan was broken in transit. Refused the box and they have a new one on the way.

attachment.php

Also expanding the outdoor foundry cover. Stepped it down to miss the windows which provide good light inside.

attachment.php

And lastly, got 7 QST emblems mailed.

attachment.php

That's it, work, work, work.
