Really nothing for two days. Packed my daughter for a move on the fourth, and we just got back from the trip...

Finally started moving all my **** back in after epoxying the floor. I didn't realize how much I liked having a minimalist garage!

Added four inches to the rails on the oldest kids twin bed to fit the XL mattress. Biscuits, glue, and some reinforcement on the bottom of the rail. Painted all of the new wood. The rails were stained and polyed originally - I hit the new part with some black paint. Hopefully it doesn't stand out too bad.

Helped the neighbor kids get their Honda going.

It’s been sitting for a year. I’ve made a couple attempts to buy it but no real dollar figure came from them.

So today, I see them messing with it.

They’re trying to jump it. No go. So I hand them my battery charger with 200amp start function. No go. No power to the headlights even... battery tested at 6 volts. Ugh...

So after a bit of looking around, the 80a fuse was blown. Replaced it. Jumped the car, and it started and ran great.

They’re going to replace the main relay as well since the symptoms they’re describing and parts previously replaced, point me to the main relay.

But. For now. It runs :)

I've fixed many Honda/Acura main relays by re-soldering the cold joints on the circuit board. Leave the plastic housing in place & just remove the guts with a pocket screwdriver.

I set up a receiver air tank to add to my current dual air compressor setup. Still researching the best way to integrate it but I ‘think’ the plumbing is good anyways. 2dbd35c7e850e66c948c379d6e01038e.jpg

I was going to do that, but when I sent them to Oreillys for a replacement 80a fuse, they bought the main relay at the same time. Otherwise, yeah I would have resoldered it...

That, and their mom is very.... um..... picky.... about repairs...

House AC went out and we are in the midst of a heat wave. Blows warm air. Cut the power and pulled the access panel off the back of the A.C. unit outside. There to my amazement I found one wire broken off its terminal end and just hanging there. Installed a new terminal end, reconnected the wire and everything working again!

Good job Rickster finding and fixing the problem yourself. Saved yourself a bit of money.

I recently purchased this low mileage 2006 MX5 GT so I’ve been detailing it a little bit at a time. Today I completed the engine bay.

Spark Plugs in the Ford and tire changes on the yard trailer. (HF changer from scrapyard with some rectangular tube welded on to slide on a fork for stability)

Moved my 26" Craftsman overflow boxes from the garage tot he shed. As soon as I get some more stuff out, I need to rearrange a few things. I'll have more time once I finish building the damn retaining wall..

I was out fishing today but after dinner I got my little brother's bicycle down from the barn (after replacing the lightbulb up there). He's flying in tomorrow so I gave it a quick wipedown, aired up the tires, pulled the chain, degreased and relubed it, cleaned the gears, put a new battery in the trip computer, the second battery from the pack in the seat bag, and brought the water bottles in to run through the dishwasher. Tomorrow I plan on picking up an air valve nut cause one of the presta valves is missing one. If he asks about anything I'm gonna tell him "Hell no, you're lucky I put air in the tires." So I guess the game will be to see if he notices I did anything to it besides air up the tires.

Still refinishing the redwood box that covers our motorized pool cover. Let it degrade far too far, because it's such a tedious job to refinish it. Tried every method I can think of and nothing lasts longer than 18mos. So I just ignored it for a few years.

This is a 19'+ jointed face panel, back side of the box. Just finished applying some tinted sealer to it late Monday evening.

Here's it's narrower front side twin from a couple days ago

And some of the smaller pieces I started off with.

Only thing left now is that slatted top deck. Then I can move on to doing the same to a couple potting benches.

Gutted the interior in the '08 Sierra to redo the aftermarket stereo system that was installed back in '09. One of the amplifiers went out on me a couple of years ago and I am finally getting around to it now that I've got the garage to park it in.

Side note - It's impressive the amount of corners your brother-in-law's "Professional Stereo Installer" buddy is willing to cut when nobody is looking.

All the new wiring is ran, Dynamat installed, Amplifiers installed, new head unit installed and system tested. Works great so far, now to tune it and button everything up.

The good news is I finally solved that "engine whine" I was getting with the old setup by making some good ground connections!

I'm building a new workshop + studio in my backyard.
Today I installed the safety switch and 100A sub panel, wired up the grounds and mains.
Today I will start installing circuits.
Not pictured is a lockout on the SS.

Yeah, funny how electrical/electronic stuff works so much better when it's properly grounded.

Finally got my Oliver Super 55 diesel engine rebuild project completed. Ollie now runs like a new tractor so I treated him to a 3 pt. trailer mover, mostly made of scrap that I had laying around.

Ollie looks great! Why did you paint the trailer mover red?

Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

I had some red paint left over from another project, didn't have any Oliver green paint. Besides it makes it easier to find in my garage. Ollie has been with me for nearly 30 years, great tractor. Someday I will give him a new coat of paint too.

Primed the inside of a old cylinder and cut the ends out of a 55 gallon drum.
