I usually use shooting muffs when using loud tools, but when I use the angle grinder, I'm usually using a face shield and I have to mount the ear muffs such that the band is resting on my neck; it's not very secure like this.

I don't want to bother with foam plugs, as they're too much of a hassle for a short session. Suggestions for ear pro that works well with a face shield and half face respirator (as I'm usually wearing that as well when operating the grinder)?

Edit: To clarify, I'm looking for hearing protection options that would work well with my existing face shield, not a new face shield with built-in ear pro.

most of the guys in my plant use this style: https://industrialsafety.honeywell....aring-protection/earplugs/smartfit-detectable

no messing around with pinching foam plugs, so they are quick and perfect for dirty hands.

that said, nothing blocks noise like a properly inserted set of foam plugs. problem is that most people don't insert them properly and leave them in their outer ear.

i dislike muffs as they don't work as well with safety glasses and even with a face shield, you should still be wearing glasses.

I'm a bit overkill when it comes to PPE. Anything that will generate dust and/or potentially send something flying at a high speed, I wear the 3M face shield respirator combined thing. Works wonders, I've had big cutting discs explode and get embedded in the shield and not my face. While wearing the above, I never found any issue with having a pair of earmuffs over my ears.
In recent years, the best hearing PPE I've found is the ones that are molded to your ear. Can't remember what they are called exactly. I wear those and earmuffs over and I can't hear my wife... uh, tools, no matter how loud they are.
