I managed to turn up a few items at the local flea market this weekend.

From Top to Bottom:

Blackhawk 49999 1/2" drive ratchet
SK 1/2" drive extension
Proto 1/2" drive extension
New Britain 1/2"x9/16" wrench

The ratchet seems to work well. I'm guessing the knurled part was painted green at some point? The SK had a lot of small pinhole rust spots on it but a brass wire wheel took care of that. The Proto was good to go with no rust. The wrench was heavily rusted but cleaned up pretty well with some Evaprorust.

I paid $15 total for it. How'd I do?

Decent. I would not have paid that much, but that does not mean $15 is not still a good deal.

Those ratchets are my favorites, I have three. Fine tooth, and super smooth with good grease. They were also labeled as New Britain and Husky back in the day.

David - great deals. You wouldn't want to sell that ratchet, would you. I collect older Blackhawk ratchets.

Well, based on my rough estimates, we have a ratchet worth $12-15, a very old wrench worth $3-5, and two extensions worth $6-10. That means a total of $21-30 so yeah, you did good.

Thanks for the positive replies. The seller at the flea market also had a PowerKraft, Fleet, and Challenger ratchet but I didn't pick them up. Would any of those be note worthy? The ratchet seems to have a fine tooth gear in it and a smooth action. I thought the wrench looked interesting. I doubt I'll ever use it though.

Woody: I'm afraid I already have the disease. I think it's hereditary!

Cruiser: I'll shoot you a PM and see if we can work something out since you collect Blackhawk.

Hey, any time you see a vintage USA ratchet in decent condition for $10 and under, grab it. Either you can enjoy it, or sell it on here for a modest profit and allow others to enjoy it. What you pass over at the local flea might be just what a member hundreds of miles away has been searching for.

I'll try to pick them up next time I'm at the flea market. I think there were a couple other brands too but I can't recall. Lots of sockets also. I'll be sure to post if I do pick them up and see about spinning them off to some folks who will appreciate them. I just don't have the experience to know what the tools are worth.

In no time, you will develop a feel for prices. And if you need help, you can PM people on here whom you have seen actively selling in the classifieds.

At the flea today I found a Craftsman 1/4" female BE amber handle ratchet. The matching speeder I found a few months ago.
