I am thinking a used plastic barrel off CL should fit perfect. They are about $10.00 here.
Necessity is the mother of invention. The label ratted you out btw.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your monarchs are not complete.
They are both missing the crack along the top back end of the slide...
130 lbs of happiness, nice find.Followed up on a rumor of an old red vise in a garage out in the country and came home with a new addition to the spreadsheet!
It's a Fulton 13, 6in jaws, 9 5/16 opening and 130lbs. It looks like a quick cleaning is all she needs and it will be ready to go. Jaws are in real good shape and it spins with a finger.

Picked up a small haul tonight
Prentiss monarch #214
Prentiss monarch #401 WITH both pipe jaws intact
4” Wilton bullet 400S HD swivel base, Chicago marked but missing the swivel lock handles
$140 for the 3
Mslund1, Nice pickup on the two Monarch's, both did not have pic:s for the spreadsheet. Does the 401 have replaceable jaws? I like the 401. Thanks in advance.

Yes, the 401 has replaceable jaws.
I haven’t run across a prentiss/monarch this style myself. Here’s a few more pics of it for you.
Everything is always for sale [emoji6]
I found a decent Wilton C1 today for half price. It has 4 1/2” jaws and weighs in at 70 lbs. It’s been well used so it’s going to take some time to get it up to speed.

I wanted to visit the Railroad Museum in Albuquerque but they were closed on Sunday, really disappointing to learn that.
On my way home I stopped in Durango Colorado and they had a smaller museum and a working rail car shop where the guys work on big stuff, I told them I work on the big vises and own a machine shop and could I visit there machine and working shop but they did not believe me and did not oblige.
I’m not sure restoration is the right word, is seems more like a resurrection. I’m impressed.Smitty, I did a Wilton 5oo a while back that I bought from a weld shop auction, beat to hell. With a little time and equipment even one like this can be brought back to shape.
Thanks Jeff, I'll look forward to visiting you in California after I retire. Then we can visit the Museum.
