I'm assuming it's a rarity, like the seller mentions. If you were hunting down a kit to complete your restoration, a price like that may not be too high. Well, maybe not 5k.....but what do I know. This could be a sought after set among the Alfa collectors around the world.

Yes...for a restorer (think competitive) winning the show is important. If a car came with a toolkit, it is not complete without the toolkit...it might as well be missing a wheel as far as judging goes.
Tools rarely stay in the car after the first owner, and it can be hard to find a complete set of correct age for even a common car like a '29 Ford because of this...everything went into the family toolkit and then was dispersed and battered and lost. In this case, the kit is for a low production car...you could search fleamarkets for the rest of your life for random bits. 5 may be high, but maybe not.

I don't know anything about Alfa's but it actually looks like a quite useful set, able to fix most common roadside problems. Nice selection of tools.

As stated before if you need it for a "points" resto car then you will pay the price for it. Some car guys get a little crazed on this. When I restored my 1967 GTO its easy to fall into that trap. For some guys thats the fun in it. I would rather run the nuts off my car at the track!

How unreliable is that model alpha that it comes with tools for the roadside fix...

dunno, mabey at that time they figured you were going to fix it yourself, so you might need the tools to do it.

My 63 yota came with enough tools( includeing a hub nut socket wrench and a grease gun, so you could repair it anywere.

The McLaren F1 came with a tool set. Gold plated titanium combination wrenches. Seriously I doubt they would really help in a breakdown. Although, if you could afford the one million dollar plus price tag on that car, you wouldn't really need the tool kit lol...

I think tool kits included in cars built after the 40s are more nostalgic than anything, but I have heard Alfa's a pretty notorious for breaking down so who knows.
