Hello everybody,

I've just filled out my profil, but I think I might as well start a thread here, so I can say hello to everybody.

Just to make it a bit easier:

About y20dth
Biography
1975 Build, hanging around cars/in workshops since I was a kid. I've been doing al sorts of things in the Automotive trade: truckwash, truck workshop, forklifts, cars, light commerical trucks, damage asessement, technical helpdesk (Opel Germany), quality-engineer, project manager, production management. And now -partly due to the economy - student automotive engineering in Antwerp/Belgium.
Location
Antwerp, Belgium
Interests
Car mechanics, electrics, Diagnostic, tools, garage/tool solutions, would-be machinist.
Occupation
Student Automotive engineering: www.kdg.be

As of last year, I have (re)started working on cars after hours ;-), and stumbled on this forum because I was looking for smart/clever ideas to organise my garage/workshop.

I am very impressed with some of the garages I've seen here!

I am also very impressed with the 'buy American'-attitude I've read here and in some other us-forums. That sort of patriotisme (lack of a better word) is something that is completely missing here in Belgium. If I would say something like that out loud over here, I would get accused of being a Nazi. That's how fucked up it is here. But....thats not what this forum is about.
Still....praise yourself lucky that you have so many patriotic fellow countryman.

That being said, I am looking forward on contributing to this forum (probably mostly Euro-related stuff :bounce: ), and wish you all a very productive week !

I love Belgium. I never got to be in the FLemish areas, but Wallon, rocked. I spent two years there, and you will notice that his english is better than a lot of ours.

I live in Antwerp, in the Flemish part, and I can't say I really like the french speaking part, but that's a complicated mather. And as far as the southern region itself is concerned, I like it a lot aswel. :bounce:

Hello,
And Welcome

My Father was in Pepinster Belgium (?) on his way to Germany in Feb. 1945. He died in 2008. He was with the 69th Infantry that met up with the Russians at Torgau. He was wounded in Germany by stepping on a land mine.

Oh, believe me, I spent enough time there that I understand. It is a beautiful little country, though. Closest I was to the Flemish part was in Brussels. The stories that I have...
