While not a toolbox, I did pick up this Kennedy 1117AL Aluminum Tackle Box. Its in great condition - the large area of missing paint came off after I got it home and was wiping it down :( Original key and paper work. Bought it from a guy in his 60's who said it was his dads.

Has anyone lined up the different style Kennedy logos/model plates with approximate date range for production? I've search around and can't seem to find anything.

Picked up this KRA33/43 box in a trade with another GJ member. Been repainted but in nice shape. Been looking for one since the mid 90's when I spotted it in a catalog.

That 33/43 looks good with the black drawer liners Snaparxon. Just what it needed to finish it off. Ed.

Thanks Ed, Bi-Mart has a pretty reasonable priced drawer liner in black and it is solid rubber, not perforated

Very nice little box. Never see those.

Snap on called them a technicians chest. The 33 had 3 drawers and the 43 had 4 drawers.I think they only made them for maybe 7 years or so. I will have to check the catalogs. This one is a 1992 model and came with a key for the lock, bonus!

Checked the catalogs,
Catalog 100, 1991 no KRA33/43.
Catalog 200, 1993 they are listed.
Catalog 400, 1997 they are listed.
Catalog 500, 1999 they are listed.
Catalog 600, 2001 the KRA33 is listed only. 2001 price:KRA33 was $308, KRA43 was $357
Catalog 700, 2003 KRA33 is no longer listed and not in the price list

I just dragged this out from under my workbench. A friend found it in the scrap yard he used to pick in about 1972. When I was part timing on the road I carried my sockets in it. It is 10 1/2" X 26" X 4" and has BILLINGS stamped into the lid. I assume it was a Billings & Spencer product. I wonder just how old it is and what it was used for originally. It is very heavy for it's size.

Got these two MAC boxes in the trade also

The lower one is the “middle “ box for my Mac (1100?) series top and bottom. Always wanted it but would have to get or make a small step to be able to see into the top then...[emoji849]. I do need it though, too many long wrenches.

I found a use for the Billings box shown above. Since I am now heading for 79 years old and with arthritis and etc. I will never work on heavy equipment again so I am giving my son my 3/4" stuff in the Billings box.

Your box appears to have been sprayed but when new was grey with red drawers. Open the lid and look on the left side of the compartment and you should see a date code... I am guessing late 60’s to 70’s

It looks like old style slides and yeah was thinking it was grey before beacause of the bottom and inside top lid. A little beat up but ill restore it. For 20 bucks thought it was one hell of a deal. Looked up and down for a stamp or engraving cant find anything will look again and send more pics. Thank you guys for replying

Check inside looking down on the left side again. Sometimes the date is hard to see. It looks to have been made by Waterloo and a previous owner added the hasp. Here are some 1977 date codes from my boxes.

Hi, my name is Tish...new to Garage Journals. I am planning a restoration of my husband’s high school Huot Mechanics Toolbox for his 65th Birthday. I found a step by step instructions on line, but I need some advice on what Restoleum color of blue and red to use for the project? I also need some advice on the quantity to order for each color and the quantity for the restoleum professional primer to order, as we have to have it delivered and we only have a very short window to get this done (due to extreme procrastination...we only have 8 more days till completion).

The other question to the group is, we were able to find almost all of the decals, should we put the decals on the restored toolbox?

Thanks!

Tish

The paint is probably rustoleum hammered. If you have a Menards close to you the one here in kalamazoo carries a color very close to the huot boxes I have. As far as the decals are concerned most of the garage journal folks don't like them. What you can do is get some of the sheet magnet material and stick the decal to that. Then you can cut around the decal and put it where ever on the box you want and move it if you want.

Model on it is kra412a, looks like someone had put their own rivets on the top of it to hold the support, probably had broken over time, still trying to decide if i want to clean the box and use as is or do a resto on it

They clean up easily. Stout piece of work, has to be 20 lbs.

I ran across a 1939 SK catalog over the weekend. This SK #6610 Heavy Duty chest was discussed a few pages back on page 557. Oregon rock crusher and Rickster55 both have one.

Neat vintage 6610 box add Username.....I'm saving it with my pics. Buying most vintage things with inflation adjusted prices is eye opening. No wonder the old timers valued their tools so much. Ed.
