The garage journal has been so helpful for me I just thought I would throw up some pictures of my project. Maybe it can help someone out along the way. In the beginning there was framing. Had a friend to the excavation work, and paid to have the foundation poured. Back filled with dads tractor.

Sheeting in the dry is fine but roofing in the rain is the only way to know you are getting the job done right.

What's with the holes in the cross boards in the rafters? Venting and stoppage for insulation? I never seen that done like that before.

Soffit vents. Called bird blocks, mostly because of how great they work for birds to nest in I think. Screen mesh accross them typically stops that.

Siding, getting ready for concrete, and having a floor is a good thing.

Then some sidewalk concrete work. Concrete, is a great way to evaluate your friends. Like moving only more fun when you get done.

When the house starts falling in around you it slows up progress on the shop. Bummer dude.

It always seems to feel better when it is all coming back together. Almost like there was a plan. Someday starts to feel like an actual place that can be seen.

Yes the four car garage is nice. I was amazed at how many people asked if we were converting the original garage to a living room or something. Still don't know what sane person would go for less garage. Here are some more pictures, the inside with the first rendition of a setup.

So you leave the rafters exposed underneath instead of putting soffit up? The soffit vents make sense then as I see them in your last garage pic.

But if I may ask, why not put soffit up so you don't see the rafters? And if soffit was put up it would eliminate the bird blocking vents. Just curious :)

No one puts soffet up around here. My dad wanted soffet on his house and shop. He ended up ordering from MT and hauling it out on a car trailer. Don't know the reasoning. I did not put it up as I didn't have the budget to retrofit the entire house and would like it all to match. And don't blow my pictures up anymore it makes it look way messier than in those tiny thumbnails.

So it has only been 6 months, but I move like a three towed sloth so that is the best I got. Hope nobody minds me adding some pictures, not even a lot of progress. Mostly some finishing of other projects. 1 wall insulated and almost finished sheeting. Starting from the NE corner, NW corner, SW Corner.

Several months later I revisited my own thread only to realize I am a terrible photographer and I have left giant gaps in my documentation of my project. Hopefully I can begin to remedy both as progress moves forward. For now here are a few more terrible shots. One exterior shot, two of the now insulated and sheet rocked ceiling.
