Dang, suckage to ReversePolarity and bmw! Lots of bang for your bucks, Outlaw.

No prospects for me this weekend, other than spending money at Home Depot on rental property repairs...:-(

I figured out the indecipherable screwdriver markings - "Hold-E-Zee" And Spring Actin" under that (its missing the spring clip) and then a model No.

BMW, I have another 3/8 drive handle, with part of a SO extension for a bit, and the grip is wood, and double fisted. I don't think it was made by SO... and I've never seen another handle quite like it.

And After adding the Wizard to he Inventory, I discovered its me second! a 10 and now a 20 oz...

Picked this box up today from FB marketplace, scanning thru random pics, a small indiscreet ad for plastic containers, my eyes picked up on the craftsman label, stopped and enlarged the image and sent a text, two dollars and twenty minutes later it's mine.. now just got to fill it..!

It would look neat nailed to a post in a garage, Rags, or you could flip it to someone doing an SJ18 rebuild with that plate missing or damaged. If you you buy it for $40 and sell it to the guy with the Blackhawk totem displays for $50 I'm sure we'd see it the following week on eBay for $500.

Picked up a few German made tools for $7. I'm still debating if I should have grabbed a 32 mm combo wrench for 8 Euros. I will probably never need it but that's not a justifiable reason on GJ.

Picked up a few ball-pein hammer heads (Firestone, Lakeside) from "The Hammer Doctor" at the flea market. (I bet every flea market has one of these hammer and axe butchers. At least this particular guy doesn't paint bomb them when he's done grinding the eye and face.) As I often tell him, I wish he would just offer the heads as he finds them, since I would prefer to put my own period-correct handles on them, saving him time and effort. But I think he likes re-handling them too much to stop. :)

Also picked up a WF-21 rat and another Ford brake and reverse band ratchet wrench. If I had a dollar for every one I have found I would... probably have about $30 back in my pockets.

Pretty decent estate yard sale today, guessing the guy had been a millwright. Or just loved tools like us on GJ.

Ridgid 18" aluminum pipe wrench, scuffed up but perfect crisp teeth

4 pcs of aluminum flat stock, formed 3" wide 1/4" thick, rough saw cut about 4-1/16" long

Qty 2, 1/2-13 threaded forged eye bolts

A.C. Filter Service double ended Cam-Loc wrench, 3/4" & 5/8"

Indicator clamp for a Lufkin 299 or 399 indicator set

Not bad for $20...

Up next,

Thanks to John (47jlk) I was able to find a new bulb for my Dazor Floating Fixture at Lowe's, LET THERE BE LIGHT!
Got the Dazor last weekend and sellers wife knocked it over and broke the bulb.

Not surprisingly slow since its the last 3 day WE of the summer - only 3 planned and one was the ES from yesterday...

First was a bust but on the way to #2 so not a huge impact -

Mostly tools, including the Billings and Spenser church Key wrench (3/8, so actually useful), 2 Ford wrenches, one marked T-1917, so looks like a date stamp? I cant recall a ford wrench so marked... Coping saw I liked for the handle and set of the frame, A Goodall "Yankee" driver, the nippers are Krauter, and appear to be early? the jaws are wiped, but I buy dead nippers if cheap to make other tools out of... An SK driver, adn a sqaure that should clean up decent.

attachment.php

Also a tiny oil can, an tobacco can with some vinyl covering it, large (sharp in this case) safety pins, and old school Flash bulbs for SWMBO collection.

attachment.php

and a Cane - I've been watching for one since I watched the "Cane Masters" Vid previously posted in here, as well as a few others...

attachment.php

Al told that stop was ten bucks!

Last was the revisit of yesterdays ES (A couple of TOO's got me nothing):

Another Proto Driver, - I was hoping this was another P&C just to be different, but oh well, a Proto butterfly driver is still good - the big deeps are older SK, the 2 smaller Proto LA, and one of the wired Sockets is also, one LOOKS Proto but no markings? and a New Britain.... A hook for 2X4 rafters - always handy, and a box of wedges I should have spotted yesterday with all the handles I got... The little wood handled driver is bent to hell, but I got it to make into something as I have a bunch of this style wood handled drivers...

Three Bucks!

Some nice scores from everyone this week. Mine has been more of a onesies-twosies kind of week.

ReStore last week. Unused larger than usual small parts bin. $5.
9460f08d5fa033e19f8fc2d2e95ce9f1.jpg

Flea market this morning. Twenty bucks for the DeWalt 20v XV's, two bucks for the Snap On 91ACP slip joints, a buck for the complete crown top ignition set, and 25 cents each for the rest.
019ca6ed236484563ccc55879e16557e.jpg

Different ReStore on the way home from the range this afternoon. While it's for the office and not the garage, I found a Herman Miller Aeron for $75. The lumbar pad is cracked, but still works. A new replacement is $30. Personally, I think there's no such thing as a $1000 office chair, but for $100 it's damn comfortable.

Lastly, a CL ad for a set of new Matco 1/2" metric impacts. Not exactly a steal at $50, but the seller included a really nice magnetic rail.

You **** for the post vise and the sander, of it works. Try looking on the sloped sides of the vise jaws for manufacturer info. Here are what mine show there:

We found several S Lake Tahoe garage sales to check out and my big score at one of those was a Plomb weeding tool.
After lunch I checked out the Tahoe flea and found some items there. I told my regular seller that I was looking for a early carpenter’s half hatchet and he had one for me today. A guy wanted $3.00 for a toolbox full of sockets. 75% of them were made of Taiwanium but the other 25% were worthwhile, mostly US Craftsman. I almost forgot to mention the Rubbermaid step stool/toolbox combo. It’s my second one and they are very useful.

There was nothing around me that looked very good, but there were a couple of sales up in the Portland area that looked good. So, with nothing else to do this AM, I figured I would take a drive. Well, the first was farthest and showed the most promise so I had high hopes. And those hopes were dashed on the rocks of reality. A lot of stuff, and it was well-arranged junk. But not really the kind of junk I like. digging through it all, I found a couple of things:

A Craftsman 1/4 box with a few matching sockets and a very rusty Walden 4-way. This will be an electrolysis project sometime in the future.
Next stop was in P-town itself, and the add showed some beautiful old tools. Well, got there and some of the nice tools were still there, with the prices to show it. I Winchester combination plane, in the box -$350. Worth it to the right buyer, but not me. Still, I dug around, and picked up the following:

North Brothers chain brace bit, Proto LA brake wrench, Plomb LA DOE, Armstrong DOE, P&C DBE (very early) and large screw out, and a Proto keychain driver. That makes six, so I gave one to the wife. It was a sale by the wife of a tool collector, and she knew what they were worth. I might go back at the end of the weekend.
The next sale was in the country halfway home. Nice stuff in the pics, but when I got there not much that I wanted. After that, I dodged the holiday traffic, hit a couple TOO's with nothing to show, and headed home.

Not a tool per se, but a wicked garage sale find. $22 canadian which is like $1.50 USD

Twin to my current beer fridge in the garage. Had to put a new plug end on and the inside has all the shelves where as mine was missing a couple.

Oh man, you **** big time! Congrats on the find!

Decided to visit the new Restore that opened nearby within the last year. They had a large supply of new LED light bulbs, so stocked up. The remainder pictured below was $0.10 since they forgot to charge me the $0.99 for the screwdriver!

I can find no maker name on the driver, but the design looks familiar--does anyone recognize it?

The find of the day was the spoon. It is Elkington & Co. electroplate, an English silversmith. If I'm reading the marks correctly, it is from the mid-1800s!

I went to one sale on Thursday, which turned out to be a house I'd been to twice before. The couple was moving into assisted living, and this was the last sale.
Photo 1:
I found three items, a jar with some screws and: 4 heavy-duty 1/2" threaded feet with rubber pads, and 8 feet from a washer or dryer with 5/16" threads. A 12" long copper bar 1/4" x 3/4", and a 12" Craftsman scale for a combination square with "geometric C" markings.

The second sale turned up some nice items.
Photo 2:
A plastic organizer case with two new Master #1 padlocks, 14 new Master #5 padlocks and a Supra realtor's key safe. All the padlocks are keyed alike and there is one key in each lock. The key safe has two keys with it. $15.00

Photo 3:
A 15" auto wrench and two new 3 foot lengths of 1/2-13 redi-rod. $5.00

A third sale had a cardboard box with some tools in it for $3.00. Here is a photo of the box. I'll show the contents in the next post.

On Friday I passed a Target of Opportunity that was a unadvertised sale. It turned out to have a cardboard box full of tools that had some interesting bits. What attracted my attention was a very nice 1"-8 tap that was in exellent condition. I asked the price on the box, and the seller offered to bundle a large bag of sockets with it for $12.00. Here are photos, not showing the dregs, which were mostly a bunch of cheap punches and cold chisels.

Photo #1:
The taps, from 1" down to #6
A cute small hex die stock and dies from #6 to 1/4-28

Saturday I went to one sale and for $10.00 found a set of imported needle files and a box of 1/2 drive 8-point and impact sockets. The 8-points are Proto and Craftsman =V= and the impacts are mostly Proto and SK with P&C in sizes 11/16, 3/4, and 13/16.

Does anyone recognize the box? It is hammered grey.

Marketplace finds. Paid 55 for the lot.

Only went for the Mahr height gauge, the other two accidentally followed me home.

Some really cool finds guys!

But Prov, having a bunch of padlocks keyed alike is SO handy! I had four from our old family camper, then bought four more years later (saw matching numbers at a hardware store and bought them) and I'm struggling to find half of the 8 at this point? :dunno:

Looking sort of dismal around here today.. holiday W/E's are like that...

We have several gates on the Tree Farm, and need to change the locks every now and then. This gives me another set of locks to cycle through the system.

When I looked at the key numbers, and started seeing duplicates, I got interested very quickly!

Twas pretty slow this weekend for tools. We went to one garage sale from a couple that owned an vintage audio store until they threw in the towel. They were selling the leftover dregs from the store. I bought this Sansui 7000 for $10. There was no output but it turned out the back panel jumpers from preamp "out" to power amp "in" were missing. That made it come to life and sound great.

The other problem was the dial string was a rat's nest. That was a PIA trying to figure out the intricate dial string routing from a blurry service manual image.

Now all it needs is a walnut case which I'll replicate. It's in remarkable cosmetic condition.

The only other noteworthy find was a nice 12" GE Vortalex osc. for $40 at a flea market.

Jack, you definitely **** on that set.

Thanks. Been looking for a decent gauge for some time. Secondhand quality ones don't come by that often, that are close by to say. Was considering a import one but (luckily) this came along.

Dave, nice find and fix on the Sansui! Sansui is my favorite Stereo gear. always good sound!

They used ply in the case with walnut veneer. I've replaced bad veneering on them before...

I've got a couple of 5000's a couple 2000's,and a couple of 9090's, and some small fry, no 7000's though!
