Interesting. $164 in 2019 dollars, according to one online inflation calculator.
Don, Since posting this a couple minutes ago, I found some S-K catalogs online and found this in the 1970 Supplemental catalog 91513. Looks like this box or one very similar was offered by S-K, even though there are logos on the catalog listing that I can't read or recognize?
Don, I believe Rubicon`s image is accurate as this was my father in laws box he bought in the early seventies..

Very cool, guys. I’ll be on the lookout for one of those. I’m not sure where I’ll put it though.

Can anyone ID this box as a drill index....only pic I have..
Yes, Huot drill cabinets.
I'll let you guys know if I get the deal done. I've got leads on too many tool boxes I'd like to have right now!![]()
Check post #9758 in this thread. Apparently made in the early ‘70s according to Rileysan. Here is mine found in 2016 at a garage sale in equally nice condition.

Just a follow-up. These were introduced in the 1968 Craftsman tool catalog as Craftsman "Super Duty" (One year only with that name) then changed to "Craftsman Commercial" in 1969. They retained the "Craftsman Commercial" name through 1976 (in the catalogs, that is) then given the familiar rectangular "Craftsman" badge, along with a simple "Sears Best" decal in 1977.
I have 2 "Craftsman Commercial" and 1 "Sears Best" carry boxes now. Am still looking for the 1968 "Craftsman Super Duty" version.

I have an old Craftsman I'd like to know more about. Looks like a mail box actually, with a round top and tray. Has one of the old logos. Not sure how old it is...I'd like to know. And of it's proper name if possible.
It's in the 48, too, and perhaps later. That box was sold in 1946 cag.
This was the box for a US Army 1/2” socket set. The gauge of the steel was thicker and heavier duty than a modern store bought equivalent, so I bought it from the ReStore, scrubbed it with some dilute simple green, dropped it in a tub of Evaporust overnight with an occasional brushing, then sanded it with a dollar store sanding sponge, wiped it clean, primered it then topcoated it with some hammered paint. It should outlast my lifetime.![]()
