We all have them - not just the garage but everywhere. And they can waste space like nothing else. You put a cabinet in a corner you waste space on the adjoining wall so you can open the door. The same with drawers - you know what I mean. I never have liked 'corner cabinets' for their poor access and wasted space due to the odd design.

For me, I only have one corner that isn't close to a door. In that corner I store our Christmas Rubbermaid containers - double rows stacked (Yes - my wife has that many ornaments/decorations - don't get me started). They are only really accessed once a year so in front of them goes something that can be moved relatively easily. I have in the past used the corner for storage of those things that I'm keeping, but I'm not actually sure I will ever need again. At the least, it would be a few years before I need them. Most of that stuff has been moved out to the shed or up in the attic at this point.

So - what have you done in your garage to make efficient use of those corners?

Long pieces of wood or metal stock can be placed upright in a corner.

Don't ever allow the Mrs to store anything in your shop or it will be filled almost instantly.

THAT is exactly why I built my garage with a second floor.....my wife's 'art studio', ALL of the kids toys and the usual storage stuff is up there.....540 sq ft worth......

Downstairs..........ALL MINE.....

I should take some pics of how I'm using some of my space.....

Give me a few hours...

Not so much in a garage, but when I built a dining room on a 100 year old home I had to relocate a furnace in the basement (never had a basement in the house prior) and I had to run the flue up and out. The only place to do it was the dining room as it was single story and the rest of the house was a two story with the center chimney removed. To get around that I built a 4' x 45° wall in the corner on the inside. To get the other side to match and make the room look correct I did the same thing. It turned out very well, everyone liked it, and it made decorating the room way easier as there was no corner to work around. I wish I had some pics of it but the ex has them all, or did.

I have my air compressor in one corner, hot water heater in one and a parts cleaner in another corner. They seem to work well there without being too much of a problem. I've been tempted to build a corner work area since it doesn't have to have a side that way.

Yeah...tell her she can store stuff in your shop when you can store your motorcycle in the dining room. This is one of the reasons my shop is 5 miles from my house, and "she" doesn't have a key.

I think I have an air compressor in just about every corner. I really need to build a shed for those damn things...

Unfortunately due to having a smallish house the garage is pressed into use for additional storage. It's not just the wife - all the kid's outdoor toys are in there also. I can deal with the toys - I'm more than happy to give up some space for them if it means my kids get outside and play instead of staying inside all the time

And you are getting older. You need someone spry and dexterous enough to fish the screwdriver bits out of the intake! Plus, it never hurts to have a kid around to read you the fine print, that is if you actually read the instructions. I just look at the pictures.

At least you have boys. My teen-aged daughter has no interest in knowing how she broke the manifold on her Honda, only that Daddy fixed it and it is quiet again.

That is true - but as you know they currently use their dexterity to put pieces of plastic down the exhaust pipe on the motorcycle and to hide wooden hammers under the front bumper on the Explorer. I'll admit - I do have to give them points for creativity
