I think my “electrician” put the wrong size romex in the wall for my kenmore elite in wall convection oven/microwave combo.

He installed 10/3 (60 feet) and a 40 amp breaker. I believe for starters the wire is too small for the breaker installed. Either way I want to do it right!

Below is a picture of the label inside my oven, there is only one set of wires coming out of the combo.

Yeah 8/3 is what I thought I needed as well.

What kind of connectors do I need? Any special ones or are the Home Depot ones fine?

You only need 8/2. Its 240v 3-wire

Connectors? This is getting hardwired correct?

Only thing you need is the right size wire nuts.

But i would make him come back and fix it

EDIT: You need 8/3. I missed the 120/240 at the nd

Did you give him specs for the new oven when he was roughing in the wiring? I say that because most built-in ovens will run on a number 10.

It's not a big enough wire for this oven. If you didn't give him the correct information this is on you though.

I'd check the actual appliance before determining that you need 8/2 rather than 8/3. I just looked at a random manual for a similar unit and it showed a neutral and a ground.

How many kW is the oven? Mine was 10.7kw so a #8 wouldn't do.

I ran #6/3 to a small subpanel next to it. A 30amp 2pole breaker for each oven a 15amp 1P for the controls and oven lights.

I gave him the same information I posted here, he allegedly called kenmore to verify. I don’t believe he did because when I called kenmore they told me to call an electrician.

Then its on him to rip it out and put the correct wire in.

Is this guy licensed?

Putting #10 NM-b on a 40a breaker is no bueno.
