Found this 85lbs International Nutyp Tool Corporation 60 41/2 vise while I was picking up a few other items. Looks in good shape, figure the year between 1930-1935.

I picked up some more goodies from the same seller I got the Blue Point branded Wilton Cadet.

My first vise of this type. A NOS Stanley 993A 3" machinists vise w/ accessories.

Not vise related but cool nonetheless and part of the same package deal was a 1960's United Delco lower tune up cabinet, Cole Steel children's desk and a 12 gallon metal safety can, all in amazing condition! 8225fa99a6f2be80af2054b18a74d96c.jpgbf609b957f06f9b752e74821569cccbe.jpgdf7024d886761a7a5bd6681372f739ea.jpg7a0415ffe63c903dfa6cc4bd8c50dcc0.jpg25ab8d1783c428d35e7bbf2e849d5c5f.jpgcaba9bd637ccf8904018c7d6b83def4d.jpg1d6432c31f9c7299d8a3c19c20503d37.jpg

Sending thoughts your way ... I've been in the dog house for about 6 years now. They eventually come around, that or you become a lot better at hiding them :)

Thanks,

While I was out in my Willys I was approached by a lady who said she had a pull behind field plow for an old Jeep she was looking to move out of her basement. I gave her my info and she sent photos and her husband's cell #. Long story short, for the price of the 1948 plow they also passed onto me the I.N.T. vise, 1800s pedal grinding wheel, 1800s book press, Willard Thermaster Charger, large double wooden pulley, Standard Blue Streak ignition parts cabinet, and some vintage S wrenches.

It's a sad reality, but some times it's the only answer for 2 people when there's just too many insurmountable differences.

Lucky lads! A rotating vise like a Parker or a nu-typ are high on my want list. I have never seen one in the flesh. Plenty of cheap chicom nutyp copies though......

Well my guy at the flea mkt had a second Charles Parker vise for me this week. My second in less than a month. The first was swivel base 973 (pg. 3719. post 74380)

So this one is a fixed base, a 953 and in fairly primo condition, just the handle has a slight bend and I can straighten that up fairly easy if I want to. Cost me $15 more than the first one did.

Congrats on both the NuTyp vise, field plow and the Richard Wilcox pedal grinder, which is in amazing shape.

That's funny, just got my 1st Parker on Friday, also a clean 973 minus the wrench like yours. And my 2nd the next day, a 954! That's pretty crazy:beer:

Took some toolsteel, and labor to make some parts for this little guy. I need to repair or add some kind of collar so it opens up without having to pull the Dynamic back. It's on my to do list.

I'll post pics Rusty of the vise parts.

As far as I can tell, Mr. Fulton had two patents for these vises: 1404109 of 1922 and 1890114 of 1932. I have one too, but it is a bit different on the rear.

Yours might have a endcap sort of looking thing on the rear. When I take it apart I can figure out what the rear collar should look like. I would love to see a pic of yours and especially the underside in the rear and a back view. Thanks for the Patent Numbers.

You’re welcome, for the no's. I won’t be home for two or three weeks, but I’ll try to remember to get some pictures when I do.

As best as I can remember, the main screw goes past the end of the slide and has a knurled nut on it that bears on the rear of the slide. It looks to me like there should be two nuts, so that when the clearance is set you could lock it in position.

So I have been working on this old vise on the Vise Repair 101 thread and just got it done. It is amazing the amount of knowledge that is on this forum. Here is the before and after pics.

And the top spins. I have to tap it lightly with a dead blow to get it started, but it spins pretty freely. I waxed in between the two pieces.

Thought this might intrest some of the guys on here.---Went back to an article I had seen in the April-May issue of Field and Stream.---It had an article about high end gun restorations at Creekside Gun Shop in Bloomfield, New York, Doug Turnbull, CEO.---Now we all know that there are specially made gun vises made just for just that purpose and that alone, but I thought it interesting just what kind of vise this high end restoration Co. uses.---Anyone recognize that blue vise?---Which proves that if you slap some leather or some cotton rags in most any vise, you can do some delicate work.---But I guess smooth jaws would be more preferable.

Here's some pics of the work they do and the vises they use.---The pics aren't good because they're pics of pics.---Those are never good.:dunno:

The bottom left pic of that pretty piece of walnut being engraved is the same roughed out routered piece pinched in the blue vise right above it.

Top right is an 1873 being rebarreled.

Bottom right is Turnbull's personal collection he uses as demonstrators.

New to the site, first post. What I'm wondering is what the value might be on a Reed Mfg 414 1/2 vise that seems to be in pretty decent shape. I'm 45 and this vise was in our garage for a long as I can remember.
I haven used it in forever and it's just been on the floor for the last 9 years. Any help?
