Garage slab poured!

Well the day finally came that the slab for my garage was poured. Took awhile as we had to relocate a gas line lateral from the street.... Garage will be 24 x 32 (approx) with 12 foot ceiling to accomodate a two-post lift (we have three cars). Should be done in three weeks time....House is in front of it (the blue part is the 1400sf addition we made). To the left is the old garage that was legally converted to a granny flat that is currently rented to a friend but will eventually be turned into a game room / bar area).

Rest of the house will be sided and painted to match after the garage is done.

Looks like you are going to have a sweet setup when everything is done. I like the concept of separate buildings. A game room / bar area that is detached makes 'getting away' a little easier. The same with a detached garage.

Thanks! For those of you that live in colder clients this typically wouldn't work but here in sunny San Diego it's fairly easy. That and it was out of necessity the way the site / house lays out. The house is at a higher elevation (slopes from the front of the house to the back). That and the rear of the house has two bedrooms which would make it next to impossible to install a hallway...

The game room is definitely gonna be fun when we get around to it!!!

OK this may sound stupid but that gas meter isn't going to stay there is it? I don't think that'd fly in my area.

It will be relocated against the front of the garage and two bollards will be poured to protect it.

Our local gas company wanted $2k (!!!) to relocate to the side and they won't let you do it yourself.

How big is your lot? Just seems like all the buildings are glued right on top of each other.

The lot is 7000sf which is actually large for our neighborhood. Which is insane considering houses in this neighborhood START at around $900k. We have a big front yard (~2200sf). A lot of the other houses are pushed further up on the street but ours but built with a large setback because it is on a corner... Unfortunately this makes the rear half of the property feel tight.

Should move to Ohio, I bought this place for 120K have 5 1/2 acres
(the snow was an extra cost option!)
