These two are done for being users. Going to be a nice addition to the fab bench
No paint. No BLO. No fancy polishing.

Pop the pins and pull the key, Flip the key around and you’ll find your date. Wilton put them on the “top” sides of the keys during a lot of 70/80’s vises. This style c1 doesn’t have C1 cast into it. Have two identical to yours. One one on the service truck and one at the shop. 1982 and 1978 iirc.
This may be the case, but I have had two Wilton’s that have been found to be undated.
An early 4”HD bullet and a C2
Nothing on either side of the key.
Just my experience, YMMV

Question for those that have sanded down and repainted their vices. I got a 4" Wilton 400s and right now its painted with what looks to be a oil base sand color paint. I want to strip and repaint. Just sand down or does it make it easier to use paint remover, scrape and sand?

If it's house paint or rattle can, use a simple green soak. A bath in a Electrolysis tank can also remove most paint.
I've NEVER used actual sandpaper...

First time I seen this logo on a vise.---I can't buy it because it's not an absolute steal and I don't have a eBay gift card handy.---So there.

What part of Washington State? I saw that vise on Craigslist or OfferUp, but couldn't meet with the seller. There was a nice Morgan I tried to rescue from Vancouver as well, but the seller saw one on eBay for much more than he was asking so he decided to try his hand at refurbishing it and raising the price.
Thanks for the tip va!
It’s unusual enough that I decided to part with some of my vise funds so that it could go into my collection.
This would be nice to have if it were a thousand bucks cheaper....

I sure would like to have an ‘ain’t no Craftsman’ Craftsman vise!
So....
Who ended up with this:
Thanks for the info did not even think about electrolysis...I do have some wire, battery charger and some steel rods might be a project to do.
I think the paint will be some type of a industrial machine type as the vice came from work.
Make sure you use steel/iron wire in the soup, not copper - Re-bar tie wire works well, Coat hanger wire also works.

SNut I suspect you **** big time!
Are we up to 8? who's keeping score? I don't think I remember 8 - maybe 5 or so?![]()
