Almost forgot one of my very favorite tools, my Marui Keiki micro protractor. It took a couple years of searching to find this one, but I have been seeing them pop up on eBay more frequently for some reason. I guess this opens the door to all my Japanese metrology tools now.

This is a funny one. The Hozan lock ring wrench, you can probably find one in any bicycle repair shop. At some point in the 80's they made a batch that had the Engrish misprint "Rock Ring Wrench" too funny. Anyway, I searched one for decades and finally found one cheap on ebay randomly.

Ok, question for you guys ordering from Amazon japan. When something is listed as out of stock, do they usually hold up the entire order for that item?

Yesterday I had a moment of insanity and ordered a swath of 3/8” zeal stuffs and a KTC handy trim set. Everything was in stock except the 75mm wobble extension which is saying 1-3 month availability. As a result the shipping estimate is 12/26?!?! Well, one item is en route for some odd reason, but the rest of the order looks like it’s hung up. Anybody had a similar experience, did they really hold 90% of the order for one item?

Depends on the wait time. If items in the order are weeks or months out they ship what they can then backordered items later.

Size and shape of the PZ-60 is much more useful in my world. I find Lineman's style pliers of little use. The PZ-58 fall into that category for me. The jaws are just too wide for most tasks except in wide open spaces.

Thanks Skin! Looks like they found the backordered 75mm wobble and shipped it all out. It will be in my hands next week! *rubbing hands*

Hozan makes a version of the chain clip pliers that have the machining on both the ends of the pliers and the sides so you can get them into tight places. I bought the set you have first and loved them when I had the room to use them, then bought the upgraded style I use both as a maint tech at a large company.

look good - did you order through a uk seller?
how do you think they compare to Stahlwille?

Yes, UKTools. They are the official distributor according to the Koken website. Made three orders so far and they have been great. Just got them so cannot comment on function/durability. I didn't like using my set of Stahlwille 1/4" sockets as they were too loose and rattly on the square end and inconsistent with it so some sockets were looser than others. Same with the extensions, all the sockets were very loose on one of them. Some people may think it doesn't matter as it doesn't affect function but it annoyed me. Also like Hazet due to the fit, finish and the knurling but they have noticeably thicker walls than Koken and Stahlwille. Obviously being picky here, all will work fine.

Yep, and Tsunoda makes the KT-802 pliers with the side functionality. That's what I have. Great pliers.

holy moly...downloaded the Tsunoda Japanese catalog, these guys are the Koken of pliers.

http://www.tsunoda-japan.com/EN/index.html

Maybe also check Keiba, all they do is pliers and nothing else.

Hozan and 3peaks are also top.

Someone who has a big collection of Japanese pliers recommended me the Keiba and 3peaks.

I suppose you should try yourself in order to verify any claims.

Looks like a Fukoka FO-5002.

Thank you, I cannot find anything on the net I suppose is for local markets. I saw them first time whilst travelling in China.

What’s the little spring loaded combi? I have an Orbis version but could use a second.

Interesting. They even have a Fit knockoff.

Fit knockoff is interesting. I've seen mixed reviews on the Fit pliers.

I have a pair. Their joint machining is only to Snapon standards unfortunately, not those of a high quality maker. I’d expect much better from Tsunoda.

Olfa 112B 7" scissors. Bought from an ebay seller in Japan. Identical looking scissors are sold on Amazon UK with part number 'Olfa SCS-2.' I assume they are the same but with different part numbers.

IMG-9528.jpg

IMG-9539.jpg

First thought when handling them is that they look like oversized children's scissors and feel plasticy but they seem to be precisely finished. Finger loops are big enough for my fingers and thumbs.

IMG-9542.jpg

One straight and one serrated cutting edge.

IMG-9547-2.jpg

IMG-9548.jpg

Easily cuts through multiple layers of shop rag (old t-shirt). May seem like a random test but this is where much more expensive handmade scissors have fallen short.

IMG-9555.jpg

Early days but they seem to be very good general use scissors. :)

They are not contoured to fit a right hand so I guess they are ambidextrous .

Wanted a coin blade screw driver. Was looking at the PB Swiss ones but didn't like them too much, thought they were too expensive also. Found these by Anex. Plus they had what they call a faucet driver so I got that as well. I liked these better cause I could use them in a power screwdriver if I ever wanted. Picked up some mini handles by Anex too to go with them. Don't think I'd use them in high torque applications but if I need to I can just use a different handle. They were only $7-$10ea shipped.

I love OLFA stuff, wanted some more snap blade knives. The aluminum handle one is sold here in the US and is exactly the same, just a different model number. Only got the Japanese one cause I found a seller that had em cheaper & in the US. The grey comfort handle one is Japanese market only. Here we only get the yellow ones.

Don't know if these are qualify as Japanese market tools but I did get them from Japan. Sold by Tamiya made by OLFA. Here in the US we have the same ones but with a yellow handle. Yeah I did pay a few more bucks & wait longer for delivery just so I could have black handles. :)

Got a few different Tamiya tools myself. They've been excellent. Didn't know they were Olfa sourced. Thanks!

Same here. I still have my Tamiya, tools, paints, & RC cars from when I was a kid sitting in a box somewhere.

I don't think many of their tools are made by OLFA. Just these hobby knives are & I think maybe one other model.
