HVLP Primer Gun ?

Please recommend a decent HVLP Primer Gun. Will be spraying Epoxy Primer & Filling Primer. Thank You, Dave

Professional, semi professional, or just a hobbiest?

The harbor freight purple gun would be a good option for just occasional use.

If you plan to use it frequently I would look at options from tcp global as repair parts are available.

For semi professional to serious professional the cheapest I would consider would be something like Devillbiss Tekna or Gti. Iwata LPH 300 is a great option for the serious pro.

Hobbiest here, primer gun is a graco-sharpe fx3000 with a 1.8 Graco-Sharpe 288882 HVLP FX3000 Paint Spray Gun, 1.8 mm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012KJ9SQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 i really like it. Well made, good price and sprays nicely for heavier primers and thick chassis paints. I use a tekna prolite for everything else except for a cheapy no name gun i use for metal flake

My high build primer gun is an old DeVilbiss GTI that I got off ebay for $50. It's looks like hell but it has a 2.0 tip and sprays very well. For regular primers I use a ANI F150 with a 1.4 tip. I have another old GTI that I got cheap but it needs a good cleaning and a rebuild kit.

Sata 2000 with a 1.8 tip. But any decent spray gun will put primer on whatever your painting. I use a HVLP touch up gun with a 1.5 tip for painting engine tins and it sprays epoxies and paint with no issues.

For primer I use the SATA jet 100 B F RP 1.6 tip. It’s not bad price wise for SATA, you should be able to find one in the $250-$300 price range.

We use a Pro-Tek polyester gun for prime. It has a 2.5 tip. It's like a fire hose, but the thick stuff passes through real good. I've had this gun for about 15 years, but recall it being under $200.00.

I would like to get another primer gun with at least a 2.5 in it just for spraying Evercoat G2. My 2.0 works ok but it really could use something bigger.

RV8guy. Try Air Gunsa a division of Iwata. The make a high transfer efficiency gun, the model 9238, with a 3.0 mm tip. Blows down polyester like it's water.

My spray mud gun is a Devilbiss FLG3 with a 2.2 tip.

Actually 3.0 is standard for polyester grain filler in the woodfinishing world. Old school paste wood filler ***** major dong whereas the European spray polyester grain fillers are the bomb. Unlike automotive polyesters the woodworking variety are clear. Most of these woodworking polyesters come out of Italy and 3.0 is the recommended tip size.
