It seems overall good condition.

It's missing the swivel lock wrench.

Inspect the jaws carefully; it's not a good to see any looseness or gap there.

Since it's long since fully depreciated and not being used so a good boss would give it to you. Most times any sale paperwork is more trouble to the organization than the cash is worth.

If it is to be a sale, yes, a dollar a pound is a fair starting offer. Up here, the cragslist sharks would ask two dollars a pound minimum and the dreamers ask 3X-5X. There's a Wilton bullet been on a while for $600.

JB: you might give us a few more pictures and details to get better answers. i'm far from a Parker expert mainly cause we don't have many around here in the PNW and the ones that did make it here that come up for sale are more than not beat to ****.

that said it looks like it's an 8 inch vise (or maybe that model # is a 6 on the end and not an 8) and 8 inch old pre WWII vises are hard to come by and let's just say RARE and I haven't seen one in person if that helps.

since it's your boss maybe instead of CASH OFFER give him a trade or an offer to clean the shop on your own time (weekend maybe)?

there is a divot or something not quite right on the top of the dynamic jaw just below the jaw opening? can you get us more pictures and maybe let us know what the other side of the vise and jaws look like?

I love the huge MEATBALL on the end of the main screw and guessing that since Parker was making vises in the mid 1850's on your side of the USA that i'm guessing that this vise is very early 1900's.

one last thing if you do strike a deal with your boss is unscrew the dynamic jaw all the way and DON'T LET IT DROP cause i'm guessing each half weighs over 100 pounds easily if it's an 8 inch wide jaw.

good luck!!

If it hasn't been used in 30 years, it sounds like you'd be doing them a favor in removing it from the floor space!

Early Parker, didn't use a wrench, had a rod with a screw in each end thru that hole. Pretty common for them to be missing, suspect the screws fell out and the rod/handle was lost soon after. How wide are the jaws?

JB: pics make it look better and better. it appears to have a little dip in the back of the dynamic slide so put something on it to see if it's an allusion or if it was used as an anvil like a lot of old vises were.

it also looks like it's an 8 inch wide jaw vise which might mean that it not only is rare, but it might weigh 250-300 pounds. that handle is TOO COOL if you ask me and it's STRAIGHT which means that maybe it didn't have pipe put on it at all or much.

please measure the length of the vise from front to back and guessing it's 27-30+ inches. and the jaw width that might be 8 inches.

I know some of the guys mention per pound pricing, but honestly RARE vises especially HUGE like this one or tiny ones it's more supply and demand. trade your time/labor or something that he wants likes might be the best option if you'd like to make an offer and if he'd give it to you then that would be a bonus (huge bonus).

good luck!!

What's it worth or what would I pay for it? Two entirely different prices. lol

The pictures suggest that someone used the dynamic jaw as an anvil in two places. The static jaw on the body shows that this vise has had a very busy life. Along with the additional things already noted, I would offer the guy 50 -75 bucks for it provided that it works and does not have any cracks or weld repairs.

ALL: if it's not an 8 inch wide jaw then sorry for all the posts I made, but most of the Parker vises I see the last # is the jaw width.

i'd still like to hear from JB on the actual size of this vise though cause it does look bigger (or maybe my new progressive glasses make everything look bigger).

I expect he will. 4-1/2" jaw vises are not uncommon, and value in very good condition is rarely more than $125 or so (unless it's a bullet).
