I didn't need a concrete anchored stand but recognized what I was sure was a large Wilton swivel base so I asked for a couple additional pics and measurements.
I was pleased to see the inner ring too and I was 95% sure it was the right base but knew I'd buy it either way so I offered her $20 if I could just remove the base. She agreed and we met this morning. Sure enough a perfect fit. I'm going to media blast it tomorrow so just a little clean up today to get a pic.
Being indecisive about purchasing a swivel base for this vise is what has primarily caused me to drag my feet on getting her painted and put back together so I think I'll get on that now. The only decision left is do I just want to use some big 5/8" bullet shaped acorn cap nuts for the swivel lockdowns or order the O.E. assemblies from Nick. Well, that and picking a paint color!Feeling pretty lucky this morning. Converted my 6" Wilton from a 600N to a 600S. Any chance that your vise may have once been on this very stand? If there was I think that stand would have had to come home with you as well! What did she want to the whole kit and caboodle?Nice find.
In Louisiana, quality vises seem to be few and far between. But I did manage to find a 6.5" Wilton Tradesman at an auction this week. I think I'm going to clean it up and use it as a blacksmithing vise.

Anyone have a newspaper or magazine advertisement for Wilton bullet vises dated 1959?

I gave my Record #6 that was on my bench to my Dad, and this one is going to be my primary. Got a picture of the 372? I couldn't find it in the vices spreadsheet
Usually I can find info about tools by googling the name and part number if available. Can't find much at all on Jorgensen bench vises.
this six inch one is for sale locally for $75, can the vise experts tell me anything about it? US made? Says steel vise, mean anything?

Mark, I really like that color scheme on the Craftsman.---I might have to copy that.
^ That one has been listed for sale for several months and despite lowering the price multiple times, hasn't sold.

Has anyone seen this unusual ACME.---Can't say as I've seen one of these before.

Curious if anyone knows if the OLD anvils marked "ACME" are the same brand/company as the one that made these vises?
The Roadrunner ruined most of those Acme anvils and vices, that's why they're so rare...….Meep Meep.![]()

Anyone have a guess for a modern paint that would match this color? I stripped off many layers of paint to get to this which I think is the original color. Maybe a gray or faded black? hard for me to tell.

RBarnes: I think it looks awesome stripped down just like that!
picked up another Reed 106 today (2nd one in two weeks) along with
a forgotten Hollands H that was sitting in a corner of the shop. Reed didn't have speck of grease on the screw but both should clean up nicely.
